I'm pretty sure it's just because he's a Sabres lackey. Like Duff and Ray and Peters, they were all optimistic about the Sabres gaining points and fighting for position, defending garbage like Leino, etc... you'll always get company line on team sponsored shows like that.

But that's precisely what makes K-sly such a turd: Peters & Ray definitely call out guys on the team and are very critical when it's called for. Duff is much more subtle, but professional in doing the same.

K-sly, OTOH, is like a little kid who absolutely refuses to admit his team sucks---or that a player screwed up. It's always "the other team sucks" or "that other player should've been suspended for that". He's often hard-pressed to throw a compliment the other way when an opposing player or team does something noteworthy. It's hypocrisy and double standards all over the place.

A certain degree of homerism is to be expected---and you do get that from Peters, Ray and Duff---but K-sly is just this arrogant, self-righteous, pompous know-it-all, who is even condescending to fellow broadcasters when they try to set him straight. Roby used to even make fun of him in those TV broadcasts when he'd get like that.

My guess is he was probably a reasonable $$$ hire under the *frugal* Golisano regime, but T-Pegs and Co. recognized how awkward a fit he was with the rest of the crew and pulled him. Granted, they kept him on staff at the organization, but that's probably because it's hard to outright fire a guy who's such an accomplished boot-licker.

Peters defending Cooke today. How predictable.

They must pray for goonish plays to happen because they never talk about actual games, yet they spend hours and hours on these types of plays.

Peters generally supports players like himself: journeyman/enforcer/non-star/hitters.

Hence he was against Seabrook.

Whereas, Jay McKee was more neutral regarding Seabrook.

It would be nice to have Craig Rivet on HH everyday. Can we replace Peters?

That's WGR in a nutshell

They act like you're the loser for actually watching the games and following the sport

Peters hosting HH the last couple days. He has actually been competent.

Although his job has to be easier with his guests being Duff and Gare.

Yes, when you set the bar low, Peters is quite good.

I got hooked on this a while back, and It blows hockey hotline out of the water everyday. Especially K-Sly.

I listen to it on the TuneIn app.

This show has officially reached pathetic status, with entire segments being devoted entirely to advertisers.

I tune in to hear about the playoffs and they are devoting an entire segment to restaurant 716. I love craft beer, but don't tune into a hockey show to listen to them talk about craft beer for 15 minutes.

It should be renamed, "Buffalo Hotline with a side of Hockey".

I listen to the show from Australia - K Sly still thinks Phaneuf is still in his rookie season in Calgary rather then the absolute train wreck he is now..

Are you Russian ? Or a fan of the soviet socialist republic ? Shouldn't bother you that much coming from Peters IMO... He's not really a guy proven to be sharp ...

I think he meant all those players who seem to not play with their hearts here from there.

If I couldn't stand this guy enough already, he just called global warming 'ridiculous' on air and now I know he's a Limbaugh follower. Get this clown off the air. His hockey opinions are cringe-worthy enough.

Xenophobia should not just be ignored because the person making the statement(s) is not too sharp. Frankly, i think it's absurd that only people who are Russian or "a fan of the soviet socialist republic" should be bothered by inflammatory statements like Peters'.

it seems to me that people like Don Cherry, who make outlandish and racist/sexist/ignorant statements, tend to get away with it because he is from an "older generation" who "doesn't know any better." I still think this is absurd. Peters doesn't get to hide behind any of those thin excuses.

I think they have two main problems with this show. First, during the offseason--and one could argue during the season, as well--they don't have two hours worth of material to talk about. Second, and it's related to the first point, these guys aren't good enough hosts to drive interesting conversation right now when there isn't much going on related to the Sabres. Consequently, they both start spouting off about irrelevant topics.

They should cut the show to one hour during the summer, with the exception of the week leading up to the draft and about 7-10 days spanning the period around UFA. Heck, I'd be fine if the show was cut to an hour during the season. I think it'd be a lot easier to listen to.

All true. And all facts to which the hosts are willfully oblivious. Their lack of real skill and imagination as radio hosts is compounded exponentially by the fact that they make no effort to prepare each program. They're content to subject the listener to the equivalent of two guys entertaining themselves and wisecracking at a high school cafeteria table, constantly one-upping each other, making in-jokes about things intentionally kept from the listener, and referring to everyone on the program by the cute nicknames that reiterate their friendship with one another and which presupposes a familiarity from which the listener is meant to feel excluded. When they're not doing that, they're content to take the most obvious fact and beat it endlessly into the ground, as if they're the possessors of some amazing wisdom for which we're to feel grateful. Interesting and insightful information might come from the guests, if someone would bother to do enough preparation to create a list of compelling questions for them in advance. (I don't consider "hey, I bet you had the alligator arms at the hotel bar last night" —this was an actual question—to be of much service to or respect for the listener.) A typical example (among hundreds) that illustrates the above: A while back Mike Ryan was a guest. Just off the top of my head, I can think of about forty questions that I'd like to ask about the reality of playing hockey in Russia (about the living conditions; the food; the travel; the language difficulties; the cultural dissonance; the economics; the shoebox arenas; the media; the coaching; the influence of the oligarch owners; etc. etc. etc). What did we get from the interview? Andrew Peters screeching over and over and over and over about missing Mike Ryan's Mother's Christmas party. In other words, the host demonstrating that he's in, you're out, the interview is about enhancing his hubris and not your knowledge. The whole mess is, in the end, profoundly insulting to the listeners. The attitude being that hockey fans here will swallow anything, no matter how lazy and indifferent. Why prepare? Why bother? The rubes out there wouldn't know the difference anyway.

There is only one problem with the show…. the hosts. I'm fairly confident if a Brian Duff was on there he could put on a far more interesting show even during the summer months.

It should be Duff and Bakes until after a week after the draft.
