Yea, you maybe right, I'm still a little heated. I just want to see a pulse from Renny sometimes. He's like Torre in that way, its just frustrating.

happy with the win, but i'm still unhappy about many things Nylander and Jagr did tonight. stop making stupid plays, and shoot the puck when u have an open shot instead of turning it over. Dubi looked good, hopefully he'll get more ice time. and Simon should be gone for the rest of the season and playoffs.

you guys played a smart disciplined game... congrats on the 2pts.

simon's a moron and you witnessed his last game as an islander... guaranteed.

i thought dubinsky looked good for you guys... was surprised not to see immonen.

2 more left between these rivals... should be interested.

good quote from someone over on BB:

Quote:
Dubinsky looked good. And the best thing I liked was when they showed him reacting to the Simon penalty, he hits Orr and Ortmeyer on the shoulder and yells "let's go!" but I'm sure he yelled an expletive instead. Good fire from the young guy.

Great freaking game..just got home. Three games in a row the Rangers came from behind to win! Now they are in 8th place baby! Keep it up boy!

Oh and btw Simon is the scum of the earth haha...Thats easily at least 5 games and a fine...probably around the 7-10 game range..should be more but we'll see..

Just got back. Way to show our presence there!!!

About 4 fights right near me, with another big brawl in the corridors at the end. With that shot from th isles, from my point of view, it didn't seem in, but I was on the other side of the net. It was close, but Idk.

Good game. Outside of the Simon incident, you guys played a very smart, hard, physical game as well. DiPietro/Lundqvist is becoming maybe the best goalie matchup in the NHL by the way.

I've been very pleased with Mara. if things continue this way and he keeps it up, he was a complete STEAL.

except for that little brain-fart between him and Rachunek at the end of the 1st he played exceptional and his goal was a BLAST.

Can someone explain to me why Simon got 10 min. according to the official score sheet but was only a 5 min. penalty on the ice. I didn't see the game, and not real sure what the actual rule is. Thanks for any help.

He got a 5 minute major, 10 minute misconduct, and a game misconduct. It's the standard penalty usually when someone gets tossed.

It Wasn't ove the line

Please keep in mind that there has to be ICE between all lines and the puck in hockey...if the puck was on edge, and past the line, that means a piece of it was still hanging OVER THE LINE. Therefore, no space between itself and the line. It has to completely CLEAR it. A puck on edge beyond the line, has not cleared it.

With all that being said, I would be pissed if that happended to us...who cares, suck it DP!

Does anyone know why ortmeyer was taking the faceoff that lead to the disputed nongoal call? I'm pretty sure he's not a natural centerman. Did betts get kicked out of the circle? Jed lost that bad boy cleanly.

no he didnt!

he got a match penalty, which carries an automatic 5 min. pp of the other team and is officially recorded on the scoresheet with 10 min.

it doesnt make sense, but thats the way they handle it...

match penalty means an automatic suspension of at least the next game/pending review by colin campbell

EDIT: from the nhl.com website " Simon, who gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead in the second period, was ejected - slapped with a match penalty for deliberate attempt to injure."

I think the idea was to have him take the face off and go straight to the point and block any shots, i think, but he was bumped and knocked down after the face off

He's suspended until an mandatory review is made, if the review is made by Campbell tomorrow and he says no suspension then he can play in the next game (which is never going to happen though)
