How do you hold your stick?

One hand or two?

Or more to the point, when do you use one and when do you use two?

On the ice or off the ice?

And where on the stick? One hand on the end, or two-hands golf-club style, or top and halfway?

And again, when do you hold it in these different places?

OK, here's my 2c/p worth. I'm just trying to consciously figure out what to do with my stick. Here's what I'll aim for in the coming period.

One handed - good for sprinting and poke checking; not good for heavy contact close into opponent in puck contest situations.

Two-hands, close together - good for some skating moves (eg tight turns); potentially weak in puck contest situations.

Two hands, weak hand further down, to kick point - good in in puck contest situations; also good for shots, esp slapshot and snapshot, powerful passing. Not good for skating and serious maneuvers.

Two hands, stick off ice - good for skating, eg crossover turns; not good for receiving a pass and the potential for sticking someone high up.

Tweeting on the bench, suspended.

But seriously, there's not too much to the concept. Hold it down low for faceoffs and corner scrums, in the middle to shoot/pass, up a little bit higher to taste when you're dangling, and one hand when you're wheeling.

Important advice: learn to stickhandle and move your feet at the same time.

That pretty much sums it up.
