Seth Jones for Offence

Looking at more of a 1:1 trade. Preferably someone younger with 1st line upside.

Connolly, Panik, Killorn/Johnson? It's not 1-for-1 but it's all forwards.

Kessel if Leafs rebuild. Obviously the Preds would have to add.

Kessel and Bozak for Jones, 11th overall, and Wilson
Preds get an elite first line winger and a top 10 winger I'm the game, and 2/3rds of one of the most productive lines in hockey today.

Package up 11th, 8th and Wilson to Edmonton for 3rd overall
Edmonton get a big body top 6 forward in Wilson, with 8th and 11th allowing them to draft two solid prospects

Leafs address their need of a 1 center and 1 defencemen with Jones and Bennett.

Jones would be the type of player I would move Kane for.

I would imagine that just means younger in general. Someone like Kessel (26) would probably be on the older end of the spectrum in terms of players at an acceptable age. Something 18-23 would be preferable if we're giving up a 19 year old top 4 defenseman with very realistic top pairing (or franchise) potential.

The Preds probably should have drafted Drouin instead of Jones.

Drouin wasn't available. That would have been impossible. Poile had Jones at the top of his board anyway, so I highly doubt it would have happened even if both were available for Nashville at 4th.

Someone invent a time travel machine and sabotage the draft so we could draft #3 instead of #4!

I posted this on our forums about this; I would not trade any of our best three in short (Couture is a good offer though), but if I had to, I would do Josi.

You will never get equivalent value for Weber; you just won't. It's been said by many smart pundits, but trading a superstar rarely yields equivalent value (see 1 below). The pool of suitors is also smaller; only a handful of teams have the pieces / cap space / etc. to actually make a legitimate deal here.

Josi is in a sweetspot where he is excellent and on a good contract, but is not really in the superstar realm. The pool of suitors is basically every team in the NHL. Josi at this point is a proven quantity vs. potential imo as well.

Jones' trade is based on potential; potential is great, but rarely nets the same yield as proven outside of hysteria-ridden situations like Lindros.

In short, in a relative sense, I think you get more for Josi than Weber or Jones.

(1) Quote re: Weber from Cooper's article in the Tennessean:
http://www.tennessean.com/story/spor...rophy/8434643/

Quote:
And rarely does a team get equal value when it trades a superstar. The Oilers, for instance, dealt away their 1980s team that won five Stanley Cups. None of those moves kept the Oilers competitive.

"I understand that trading Weber might net the Predators a quality return featuring multiple players, prospects and picks, but what are the odds that any of them turn into the type of player Weber already is?" NHL.com's Dan Rosen said. "He's one of, if not the best, defenseman in the NHL. He's the player you build around; he's not the player you trade to rebuild."

Mantha and Tatar. Wouldn't do it as Nashville though; Nashville should only use Jones to shop for a high end center, and they already poached Detroit's only good prospect one (unless you count Sheahan), who was nowhere near Jones' level anyhow.

Hypothetically, Duchene for Jones + something good, though never want the Avs to actually trade Duchene.

The Kings don't have anyone we can move that would bring back Jones. I would love to add him to our corps but we just don't have the talent. Zykov would be our highest end talent offencive prospect and we couldn't afford to move any of our top 6 so I don't see a deal between us.

I would love to find a way but we just don't have the guy that Jones can get from a young team on the build. Kid is going to be a monster and sooner rather than later.

5th overall + for Jones

Seeing as Jones was the 4th pick last year, Preds are able to draft a good offensive player at #5 and get a bonus from the Isles.

What 18-23 forward is available and has similar value to Jones? It's gonna be pretty hard to make a deal.

Jones was a better 4th pick in his year than the #1 will be this year, imo.
