NSH should deal Jones only if the return is a 1C- preferably an established one even if NSH has to add a little something to sweeten the deal. A 1:1 is pointless right now since Jones' value isn't established properly yet. He'd at least have to be somewhere around the ballpark of where Seguin was (his team's top-scorer in 2013) before he is dealt for maximum return.

Personally, I'd consider keeping Jones and dealing Weber for that will net a ton of assets- a top line C, a top line winger would be almost guaranteed in that package. With a new culture finally expected to arrive in NSH, it's pointless to retain one of the old guards.

They've had problems with other nationalities as well, notably Sergei Kostitsyn, and he is from Belarus, not Russia. If Poile is going to hold that kind of behaviour against anyone, I don't think it will be based on nationality. He might not want players with the "me first" mentality, but you can find those in any country on the planet.

That said, the only thing I could see the Oilers offering, is something around Yakupov.

Drouin For Jones

Are both solid offers.

QFT. Everyone is talking about Ekblad this year but come on, he's probably a #2 at best. Jones SHOULD be a #1 and has franchise potential.

Only through page 1 and I'm excited. I think I can make Pred fans happy

If we ever had to trade Kane, that would be the kind of trade we would be looking for.

Edmonton, likely the team most in need of a star defenseman, would only offer Yakupov?

Wat.

Kane doesn't get you Jones. Kane's value isn't as high as jets fans think.

Wow, there really are some very good offers out there. Makes it tough to beat them.

I'd hate to deal him but would you guys be interested in Simmonds? Maybe Simmonds + 1st for Jones?

If you'd rather have a center we could work something around Schenn but I'll be honest with you, he's probably just going to be a good #2 center. Maybe he develops into a low end #1 but that's not what I'd be looking for if I were you.

Kane and 9th overall would be a competitive offer, but there is a good chance Nashville would still end up going with something that fit their needs better (a centre).

The fact Jones shoots right makes him a poor fit for the Jets anyways.

In any case, there's no way the Jones is being traded any time soon.

but really Nashville should be dealing Weber.

bigger return and Seth Jones should be their biggest building piece.

Weber will be 29 in august and his value will never be higher.

What?

I'd consider Skinner for Jones straight up, but a 2014 1st as well is way out to lunch.

Rumor has it that the Canes tried to move up in last years draft to grab Jones, but Tampa wanted Skinner and the Canes pick and the Canes hung up the phone then. Nothing has changed that would have them say yes to a similar offer now.

Agreed. Quoted to have as a reminder on this page as well.

The Jets don't need Jones as a RHD and I'm pretty sure Nashville doesn't take that deal anyway. Jones value is on par with Trouba's and I know as a Jets fan I wouldn't trade Trouba to get Kane if he was on another team.

Not only Yakupov, no. As part of a package. It makes no sense for us to trade Nugent-Hopkins or Hall, because that would just be plugging a hole by making another. But making a package that included Yakupov + would certainly be a strong package. Let's not pretend that Yakupov has no value here.

Just like Weber talks start with Hall or RNH if you are considering Jones

I agree, people tend to forget that Yakupov is a 1st overall pick and led his team in goals last season. He obviously didn't gel well with the new coaching strategy and had a soft more slump.

I think a Yakupov and picks deal is there for Seth Jones. Or you could start a package based around 3rd Overall this year for Jones, if Ekblad is off the board.

That's a tough package to give up. However, if that's what it takes I'd do it
