I think the Canucks would prefer Sutter and Depres for Kessler.
That would make more sense and still leave the Penguins with a forward to move for a d man.
Canucks get younger, which is what they need to do too

LOL no, no we would not rather have Sutter and Despres for Kesler. That's literally the last thing we want.

really dont see why this deal keeps coming us.

van clearly doesnt want sutter and depres plus a 1st.

pit clearly doesnt want to give up a lot for an older and injury prone center.

the grass is greener on the other side my friends.

Sutter might fill a need and he is young. He could also be moved in another deal and I'm sure there would be teams that would like him

Best stretch of play offensively* (When he was with the Twins)

He's very good at either wing or center.

With the hiring of Linden, we are no longer a rebuilding team. Fans are not the only ones with this mindset, most close to the team and insiders are of the same mind set.

The time of Sutter, Despres and a 1st has come and gone. Neal for Kesler at least tried to fill a hole for us, albeit at the expense of creating another hole. A late first, a reasonable D prospect and Sutters' rights make for a very undesirable return for one of our best players. Low year, low points, terrible team season, we won't get a return worth what Kesler is worth to us from either a contending team like Pittsburgh, or really most teams in the league.

The Penguins and Canucks aren't good trading partners. I'd love Neal on this team, but we can't afford to give up the roster players Penguins fans would want back.

How did hiring Linden change that the team is getting old and needs youth injection? Don't get me wrong, don't want Sutter or despres .

sorry Penguins fans, no offence intended, and Iw ill not speak for other Canucks fans, but Despress and Sutter for Kesler is out of the question. I have no interest in any of those players for Kesler package. but it looks like we will be keeping Kesler for next year.

Which is fine... Honestly that's about the most I'd give, and even then I'd have doubts. And most Pen fans are not willing to move much else for him.

Hiring Linden has been interpreted by nearly any one reporting or talking about it as "Canucks ownership doesn't want a rebuild", therefore we'd be looking at keeping major assets, in conjunction with with an injection of youth.

Not saving 5 ish years age wise with a large downgrade to our roster (even Despres would be, presently, a number 6 guy with Edler, Garrison, Bieksa, Hamhuis and Tanev all in play).

If Benning (if he indeed comes here) wanted to deal Kesler than I'd be ok with something like this.

Kesler for Sutter+Pouliot+1st

Even though Sutter is about to become an overpaid 3rd liner with his RFA.

Because he's a great center?...

You do know that the Pens had great playoff success when they had their amazing 3 Center system?

Sid
Geno
Staal

Now, Kesler can play center AND wing..

And how often has Kunitz been singled out as the guy moved when the Pens flopped without Neal?

Take Neal away from Malkin and you'll have a very disgruntled Malkin, want to **** off a superstar that just finally got a stud winger on his wing after having so many crappy ones? Trading Neal would do just that.

The logic...so absent.

Hell no to both trades, Penguins get ripped off royally in both trades. Keep Kesler, we'll keep Neal, Sutter, Pouliotand whatever other parts you had the Pens forfeiting for a guy that isn't as good as he once was and is likely on the down slope of his production.

If we are going Despres/Pouliot+Sutters RFA Rights+1st I would rather just go to SJS and get Pavelski.

Kesler will be 30 when next season starts, and both Shero and DB can't help themselves with their dream of the three center model. Moving a young asset like Neal for Kesler would be stupid as hell.

Sutter is a big reason the Pens advanced to round two, and I see no reason to replace him at the expense of Neal for a 30 year old upgrade.

If Shero is dangling Neal, go after Kane, who is much younger, a natural wing, and would have a bigger impact for much longer than Kesler.

He played the best hockey of his life with Megna and Jokinen before the Marchand incident.
