Not trading Gardiner and the 8th for this deal. I hope we don't trade either, period.

Yeah, Flyers fans agree.

No to OP because the Flyers don't need Gardiner.

Rather deal Laughton alone for a similar aged d-man with some upside.

A team that employs Luke Schenn on defense can always improve their defense. Dont worry though, Leafs have a good one in Gardiner and there is no reason to move him without a similar potential player coming back.

Luke plays very well when he has a competent partner and hes still very young.

Watch the Flyers before writing.

Really don't know how the value matches up in this deal so could flyers fans chime in here? (+'s being added accordingly).
Pass. I don't want anything from the leafs

BTW, when did Gardiner become an all star?
Are Bozak & Kadri (if he plays center) better then Schenn?
When did Schenn?

And to the second part, 1000 x's yes.

This is terrible. Brayden is looking like he is going to be an average 2nd line center. The leafs trade Gardiner (I am so against trading him, he looks so good out there and last season played in stretches where he was elite looking) and they trade their 8th OA for a package of average players. Leafs pass big time. Flyers fans who are offended are either being homers or have no clue and just go by what they hear on HF and not the actual talent the leafs are trading. (In b4 leafs have no talent on their roster).

The Leafs need Gardiner far more than Schenn or Laughton. Haven't we gotten over Brayden by now?

The value is pretty darn close imho, but we really can't afford to deal away one of our top 3 defensemen.

I would do it if I'm Flyers with all things considered. This trade increases the Flyers team speed, particularly on the blueline. That is a pressing need for them. It also gives them the opportunity to not rush some D prospects, which I feel is almost inevitable given the state of their d-corps right now.

We can't trade Gardiner who is arguably our #2/3 D for a C that would be playing the 3rd line, never mind adding the 8th overall for Laughton. The values not bad but it doesn't make sense.

Don't want to trade Gards. The advanced stats work in his favour and the eye test is pretty good too.

I'm a big fan of Laughton, meh about Schenn, but I wouldn't bite on this deal.

I can't have a differing opinion?

Try watching a Flyers game without being a homer. You probably think JVR sucks and that the Flyers won that trade don't you?

Why do you just throw in random laughing animations to your comment?

Like, "I can't have a different opinion?" Laugh, laugh, laugh. You must think a lot of things are funny.

You must have a dull life if this is what you find a problem with...

And some other poster disrespecting my opinion because it doesn't follow suit with their homeristic views is amusing to me.

Deal with it.

I think a realistic view of this is that Gardiner and Schenn have comparable market value, the difference is that Schenn is seen as a disappointment by not progressing to what people had hoped... Gardiner's value is trending upwards, especially after being so dominant against Boston, and to close out the season, he looks elite when he's on his game and Toronto would be stupid to part with him for Schenn, to be honest Philly would have to add a small sweetner IMO.

8th for Laughton? No way, the 8th (Hopefully Ritchie/Virtanen or Ehlers) could be way, way better then either Schenn or Laughton.

That being said, I like Schenn, and wouldn't mind having him in Toronto, but he'd be our 3C.

Leafs don't improve on defense by trading their best one...
In the NHL, Laughton is a 3rd line center, AT BEST.

I agree. The value is probably pretty fair but I just don't see a reason for either team to do it. It really doesn't fix any of the problems with either of our teams and honestly we each would be better off trying to package those players (maybehave to add a little bit more) to get the type of pplayer that WOULD address areal need for our teams.

Again, value seems fair but I think both teams pass.

Oh, and I love how these kinds of proposals ALWAYS seem to dissolve into a pissing contest. I think that if everyone was open and honest they'd agree that the value is probably fair even if they'd rather keep their own guys.

I give the OP credit. At least he didn't ask for Couturier.

Funny considering the Leafs were bottom five in the league in goals allowed and last in shots allowed. Getting rid of Luke Schenn really fixed your defense, huh.
