The value is next to nothing. Think about how much an extra 7th round pick a year would realistically help a team.

It would technically help the team after the player in question retires(or becomes UFA age and he would sign elsewhere). It would also open up capspace that you could sign another player

But actual franchise player >>>>>>>>>>>> potential player from 7 th round (unless you get Datsyuk /Zetterberg) + capspace

LOL

Ask yourself this:

would that get Tavares from the Islanders?

The answer is "no", IF you want tone polite.

I am taking about the hypothetical 100 7th round picks for star player trade, chances are over the long run it will help you

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

What?

Okposo (1st line power forward)
Strome (one of the top prospects in the sport)
A top five pick
Our 1st in 2016
And Travis Hamonic

Are we trading for two PK Subbans and Carey Price?

Aren't you a Canuck fan?

Feel free to keep your two cents

There should be a skill testing question before you can post a thread, like whats 1 + 1.

Please don't compare the value of John Tavares to PK Subban. He is an outstanding defenseman but you lose all credibility when you do this

Can't bother with the maths behind 100th 7th picks, but chances are you won't get a PK Subban out of them. Mostly just a couple NHL players over 100 years...

Okposo (top 6 power forward)
Strome (not sure thing yet)
#5 pick (still not sure thing yet)
Our 1st in 2016 (Complete oblivion 1-30)
And Travis Hamonic (Top 4 D)

Is it worth a #1 Dman? We are in win soon now, so no.

Tavares is better than PK and worth more absolutely... The point was to make the comparison that they are both the face of their franchise. Would you trade the face of your franchise for the most mediocre pile of crap ever assembled

Ha ha, good one! I mostly enjoy browsing these boards, save for the occasional downright stupid trade proposal.

Maybe trade proposals should be in the form of an NHL14 interface whereas if the game refuses your trade, you can't post it in here. Even then, a lot of stuff would get through.

It's the fact they're both franchise players, and it's not like he's comparing to Tavares to Phaneuf, simmer.

um not exactly. and the fact you don't put them somewhere in same ballpark shows how little you know about subban - or the importance of great young dmen

It's not worth a #1 dman...

That's a top line forward, a top ten in the league prospect, a 5th overall, a first rounder and a top pairing dman.

That might be the asking price for Montreal to deal Subban but no one would offer that, especially when the price of Subban alone is going to be 7m + on a long contract.

If Montreal were to sign him for 5 years, 30 mill and then put him on the market they'd probably get a fantastic return (not as obscene as the above, but definitely a great offer).

If Montreal were to sign him for 7 years, 56 mill and then put him on the market they probably wouldn't get as many great offers and the quality would be less.

As an Islanders fan I totally agree that the original deal was laughable. Also as an Islanders fan I don't know one of my brethren that wouldn't laugh at an unsigned Subban for Okposo, Hamonic, Strome, 5th overall 2014 and a 1st in 2016 proposal.

Next time you want to be condescending I recommend reading twice. He acknowledged it was overpayment. He said that this is the overpayment the Habs would need to move Subban. He wasn't suggesting a fair deal. He was suggesting the pieces necessary to give Montreal no choice but to make the trade. He never claimed it was a move the Islanders should consider.
