It is a surprise that Bryzgalov made the 2nd round, but there is no irony. It would have been more ironic if Bryz dominated while Mason bombed in the playoffs, but that opposite happened.

Yeah, Bryzgalov synthetically fused with 1996 Patrick Roy wouldn't help the Wild right now.

Game 1: SV% .810
Game 2: SV% .857

Not the total story and the Blackhawks are strong.

Bryzgalov has played fine honestly

His team is not doing much out there to help him. Yesterday for instance he robbed Hossa on breakaway only for Toews to come down and bury loose puck into net because Koivu didn't try that hard to get back

Parise/Pominville and a few other big name Wild have put forth less then stellar back checking efforts this series

Where have I heard this before?

The simple fact is, when Bryz is in net, it's extremely likely that the opposition will put up 3 or 4 goals. Yeah, they might be sniped shots...but Bryz just so happens to get "sniped" more than any goalie in the league. It's to the point where he isn't getting sniped, he's just failing to make saves.

One of my favorite Bryz plays was when Bryz made a fantastic save on a breakaway from Crosby, but used so much athleticism that he flipped into the safety netting and Tyler Kennedy snorted, then bellowed wildly, hoofed over and put in the net.

Significant chance I'm misremembering. Also: I was drinking. Also: Could have been a dream.

No I recall that. Tyler Kennedy did a lot of snorting that game.

Lol BP1974 comes out of the woodwork when Bryz does something marginally well. Color me surprised.

Anyway, he did alright in the regular season, he seems to be doing pretty bad this postseason though. Lol at applauding him for his performance in Game 7, I'm sure that one save was really tough. Of course it'd be hard for any goalie against the Hawks.

I liked Bryz and know the Flyers did the right thing buying him out, but BP you've become ridiculous. I think you might actually be Bryz.

Yeah, I defended Bryz for a little while there myself. I compiled the stats showing how terribly inconsistent he was with a ~.938 sv percentage in nearly half his starts but also a sub .900 (think Mariana Trench) in his other half. Eventually it was painfully evident that he just isn't a good goalie, at least not for this team or most teams honestly.

the fact that, of those 4 goalies, only he is tending goal at this moment in the playoffs is pretty ironic, surprising, funny, unbelievable etc etc etc

He had absolutely nothing to do with getting the Wild there. Nothing. Zilch. Nadda. If he played every game in the Avs series the Wild would have been sent packing by Game Five at the latest. It would be worth talking about if Bryz actually did something besides making one save.

OK, but he was referring to this series, and while you probably have a point there in general, you don't have a good argument when you're talking about these two games in particular. You seriously can't just look at the numbers or conclude that something that holds in general holds in the specific. If you watched the post-game show after game 2, you'd see even Jonesy and Roenick would vehemently disagree with you. That doesn't make them right, of course, but I see no reason as to why they'd be defending Bryz so strongly if he played poorly. Certainly, they would at least add some qualifiers to their positive comments.

Also, BP 1974 was annoying as **** when Bryz was here, but, come on, I can't believe how much people are stretching to show he's wrong in saying the situation is ironic. If he finds it unexpected and amusing that a goalie that started in the ECHL and everyone here was saying is terrible has now made it further than Mason and Bobrovsky, is he really that far off?

gotta give the Wild credit. that is one tough building to win in if you are the opposition.

19 shots for Chicago in game three. 20 in game four.

Bryzgalov made some decent saves, but Minnesota has been giving him the support that the Flyers gave Leighton in 2010.

The Hawks haven't exceeded 22 shots in a game yet this series. Yes, I'll give Bryzgalov credit for making the saves when he needed to at home, but you can not tell me that almost any other goalie in the league wouldn't be getting similar results.

Bryzgalov has looked like crap most of the time. Minnesota is putting on a defensive clinic in this series.

Yup. The Wild are doing their best 2010 Flyers impression in front of Bryz.
