One thing I have noticed, and I don't think I'm alone, is the Rangers incredible ability to be tossed from the faceoff circle. I don't want to sound whiney, or that I'm complaining, but it always seems that a Ranger gets tossed from the circle, never the opponent. Is there something I'm missing? I'm a little fuzzy on the faceoff rules, are they just undisciplined in the circle? I can't remember the last tiem I saw n opponent get tossed by himself. Thoughts?
we do and the opposition does the samething and they stay. How many times have you seen an opposing player lined up outside the corcle jump the gun and come into the circle? Often. The rule is the offending team's faceoff gets kicked out. But that doesn't happen. How many times have you seen them drop the puck before we are ready? How many times have you seen the ref get in the way of our players while they have the puck? How many times do we get called for a penalty by the trailing ref, while the opposite seldom happens for us?
I don't think you're alone in noticing it, but it's just one of those things we have to live with.
That's what I was thinking. I've always been a Ranger fan, I've have become numb to inconsitencies in the way the game is called, so I am in no way complaining. But it is just incredible how I cannot recall one time this season that an opponent got tossed, without a Ranger with him. I say we put someone in, wait for him to get tossed, the put a Nylander in or whoever else. Some reverse psychology on the Zebras haha.
I'm not someone who likes to point at refs for mistakes, but I've seen it in this case. I actually thought this to myself during today's game. I'm not sure whether it is the referee's fault, or is it Renney and the coaching staff for not teaching them how to do faceoffs properly...( I know that's unlikely)
Cullen is at 54% according to the stats i'm looking at. Betts actually at 51%.
I think part of being good is really testing that limit of what is legal and what not... Unfortunately, refs seem to have something against the Rangers and it results in what we see. Betts getting thrown out on a 4 on 3 was pretty nuts to me personally.
I think what it is with the refs is that they grew up a fan of one particular team... Unfortunately, if you look around at opposing teams' fans and their most hated teams, the Rangers are seemingly always in the top 5. Well refs are human... Some of them seem to carry that dislike on to the ice. THus we get what we see.
