Well In 47 games played with the US Under 18 Developmental Program last year, he had 8 goals and 19 assists.

And in 28 games so far in NCAA action for Wisconsin, he has 3 goals and 13 assists.

And if you have ever, ever seen Ryan Suter play, you'd know the type of potential this kid has.

I guess no matter what, the blueline future looks bright in Calgary
The "Q" has the worst defence in all of the CHL.

The Flames may have gotten the best two as a one-two punch, but yes, Seabrook, Suter, are better than Ramholt.

I'd take Suter over Ramholt....I'd probably take Suter over Phanuef as well.

Not making comparisons but Rozsival was the top defenseman in the WHL one year....just sayin junior rankings dont translate all that well.

At any rate, Calgary's depth on young defensmen is arguably unrivaled.

Pitt and Nashville are good but aren't in Calgary's league.

I'll get flamed for this but speaking of young D prospects I saw Ballard play the other night against Bejmindi (sp) and came away completely unimpressed. His decision making and hustle was plain bad (although he scored). Granted this was the ONLY game I have ever seen him play so I realize it was an off game, but it was just an observation.

The jury is also still out on Phaneuf and Suter. They were, after all, drafted just last year.
Not trying to be a jerk, but it was just kinda funny that the jury would be out on two and not the other two, considering they are all the same age and drafted in the same year

Stats also dont take into consideration certain factors that could have a significant impact on what those stats may be.
There are many things factoring into a defensemans stats...such as quality of ooponent, quality of team mates, coaching style, ice time....etc.
Stats are an indicator to a certain point, but never should they be used as a be all and end all in any debate.

Still, he's a great pick for them.

Suter #5 overall
Phaneuf #11 overall
Stehlik #23 overall
Klein #30 overall
Ramholt #41 overall
Sulzer #60 overall
These were the CSB final ratings.

Suter #7 in N.A
Phaneuf #8 in N.A
Stehlik #49 in N.A
Klein #18 in N.A
Ramholt #16 in Europe
Sulzer #23 in Europe

Ramholt is the best defenceman in teh Q, maybe, yeah, I'll go with that.

BUt being the best d-man in the QMJHL is a far cry from the best defenceman in the draft.

I'd add Mark Stuart to your list and take off Belle.
