Oh we need one alright....

Anyway, yeah this is the best we can hope for considering Snider still has his steel grip on this team...

It is just interesting from Holmgren's comments the other day that this move was made now. Holmgren turned "70" in a matter of days in Snider's eyes.... Must have been an interesting meeting between the two. Maybe Hextall said he was going to take a GM job that was offered to him and Snider wigged out...

Forsberg became Upshall (who became Carcillo) and a 1st (which became Hartnell and Timonen).

Pitkanen became Smith and Lupul (who became a cap dump piece in the Pronger trade).

Downie became Carle who became a free agent walk away.

The situation wasn't that dire, but it wasn't exactly ideal.

He likes young players, and he likes draft picks. Says he's very reticent to trade a young player for an older player. We gotta keep our picks and make them count.

I'm liking what he's saying so far. Obviously he'll need to back it up but he's certainly saying the right things.

I hope this means Grossmann and Vinny will be traded for draft picks.

Listening to the presser, I think it's fair to say that Hextall will be a bit more "chatty" than Homer.

He spun assets into other assets. The point was he had enough to make moves and enough cap space to add impact players.

I'm not as high on Hextall as most. He mentioned in the conference how he likes to surround himself with people he knows and has worked with so he can feel comfortable. That's really, really scary to hear him say because often enough that's a really stupid and messy way to do things. Hiring a bunch of friends/ex teammates that is.

Don't really care if Homer is still around as long as he doesn't have final say on the roster.

Not sure how to feel about this. Kind of nervous about this, but it's just a wait and see thing with Hextall I guess.

Sticking it to Pittsburgh with that comment about not waiting around for five years of number one picks.
