Thanks for the info on Staal and Maine RB. I was looking all over for something about Staal but came up empty.
Regarding Ryan,he got off to a slow start due to off season ankle surgery

Billy Ryan began the hockey season behind the eight ball.

The University of Maine’s junior left wing had ankle surgery in the offseason.

That prevented him from working out and improving his strength.

He returned to school on crutches but hasn’t missed a game.

By his own admission, he got off to a slow start. But in recent weeks, he has started to emerge as a dangerous presence

Hope nothing is too serious for Staal, but even if he needs some time to recover from whatever may have happened he has plenty of time.

Tom Pyatt scored a hat trick today in a 7-4 win. He scored an ES, PP, and SHG. He was the 1st star the game.

Pyatt also hit 80 points in 56 games.

Pyatt, misses out on some games (in order to win a Gold Medal at the WJC's) and continues to get 80pts (so far) in 56 games in the OHL.. pretty solid, pretty solid..

Pyatt is awesome. If he does not make the Rangers next year, he'll tear it up and be a call up by midseason. Steal of the '05 draft.

I love Pyatt. I have him after our past 1st, and maybe Anisimov, but ahead of Callahan and co. He is not fancy, but got very serviceble skills. Everything else aside, looking at his game with the puck only, he is kind of like Avery but a bit more skilled.

Pyatt also got a very high quality level to his game. You could see it in the WJC, not many Canadians can step up and perform 100% on the big ice, Pyatt could. He covers allot of ice. I mean, often when it comes to the NHL, and the CHL, allot of Canadians are kind of pretty defenied role players. They do what they do well, extremely well. The intensity is lower on the bigger ice, you need to be more careful with the puck, and its necessary that all players can play well in all aspects on the big ice. Pyatt can do that.

He got potential to become a Canadian Martin Straka. Kind of like Jason Blake.

Byers will be a player... You can just tell in reading those comments from the article. He has the mental side of being a professional down. Typically, in all sports, high character guys who understand what it takes see their full potential. He understands that... And i'm mainly referring to his comments regarding needing to improve on every facet of his game, even the parts that he's already good at. Understands the overwhelming need to keep getting better.

Question is whether he's the typical 3rd or 4th line banger, or whether he'll be that Tucket type who can bring a number of things to the table and play on the second line.

Pyatt Signs First Pro Contract With Rangers

3/12/2007

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has signed center Tom Pyatt to a professional contract.
Pyatt, 20, has skated in 56 games with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this season, registering 42 goals and 38 assists for 80 points, along with a plus-32 rating and 18 penalty minutes. Among league leaders, the OHL Western Conference All-Star is currently tied for first in game-winning goals (nine), tied for third in shorthanded goals (six), tied for sixth in goals (42), and tied for 11th in plus/minus (+32).

Since February 18, Pyatt has notched 12 goals and six assists in 10 games. In addition, he recorded four points (one goal and three assists) in six games at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Leksand, Sweden and helped Team Canada capture its third consecutive gold medal on January 5.

"It was a huge goal and it was a great play by Cody Bass and then what was funny about it, was Cody made a great play to get Pyatt the puck, and then Pyatt made even a greater play. That was pretty special," Mancini said of Pyatt's team-leading sixth shorthanded goal of the season.

"Tommy has really stepped up and done a great job.Our older players and our best players stepped up and were our best players (today). Here's what's happening with the team: Everybody is playing their role, they've accepted their role and now they are excelling at it. Everybody is doing what they need to do

Unsigned 2005 draft picks-Brodie Dupont,Dalyn Flatt,Trevor Koverko and Ryan Russell

Marc Staal was signed in training camp-2005.Michael Sauer was signed on 8/8/06 and Tom Pyatt was signed today.M-A Cliche was traded to LA

I think Dupont will be the only other 05 pick to be signed

Players between 18-21 years old are required to sign three year deals

Great news on Pyatt. An absolute must have.

Ultimately I think we will sign Ryan Russell. Just a feeling I have. Everything I've seen, heard or read says he's a player. Bring in Dupont and Russell.

Welcome Tom. Looking forward to seeing you in Ranger Blue.

I'm assuming that he will finish the OHL season and then go to the pack, correct?

Im guessing Dupont and Russell will sign. I doubt Flatt or Koverko will get signed.

Artem Anisimov

Quote:
Anisimov had the first two-goal game of his Russian Superleague career. He notched his first goal at 17:13 of the first period, giving Yaroslavl a 2-0 lead. He later scored the eventual game-winning goal at 6:35 of the second period, putting Yaroslavl ahead 4-1 at the time. Anisimov also took one minor penalty in the game

Add the Staal,Sauer and Pyatt contracts for next season. There isn't that much flexibity in signing all of the remaining 05 draft picks plus the college players. The Rangers want to sign Artem Anisimov.Bobby Sanguinetti will be getting a NHL contract within the next year.Billy Ryan?Does Ryan go back to Maine for his senior season or does he turn pro?

RangerBoy- IMO Potter should defenitly get a contract. He got a pretty special and rare mix of skating and puckmovement for a stay at home D. I need to see him more, but he reminds me of guys like Brett Hedican and Adrian Aucoin.

Great to hear about Anisimov. Its huge if he can keep this up.

Helminen, Liffiton, Isbister and, in an extreme case, Ortmeyer are also expendable if need be, especially if we wind up signing one or two premier free agents at the big club. However, in my opinion, the more likely avenue to free up space is trades.
