Can you also accept the fact that no logical argument can be constructed to support your point (as I understand it) that the fate of Jamie Storr and Co. is instructive for predicting what future holds for Kopitar and Co?

Agree with what? The propriety of the subject matter?

You put the future of this team on Rosa & Berg? You actually accepted and agreed with anyone who advocated either one of those players were franchise players? How many games did it take before you saw that was nonsense. 2? I know you didn't because even if my limited knowledge of you, you are smarter than that. If you're trying to convince me that there have been other greats in a Kings uniform, I will agree. However, they are not the ones you mentioned. You'll have to go back to Robitaille, Carson & Blake. That would be at least a better analogy. Although you of course realize that any comparison between today and the 90's (or even the 80's) must be buffered by the salary cap issue. It has changed the hockey landscape and how teams are built.

I am not wearing rose colored glasses when it comes to the future of this team. I like what I see. I like that Dean has dumped salary, traded away the veterans and is building around youth. I like our franchise player, Kopitar. You don't? You honestly don't see him as being one of the best players in the league? You don't look at Jack Johnson and see Blake in his youth? Remember Blake and the edge with which he played his first few seasons? He had a mean streak too and was a similar talent. I see a young defenseman who has a good shot at being a Norris Trophy candidate for several years.

You don't see the draft picks and ask yourself, "when was the last time we had this many first round picks?" Something we have, I would hope you would even admit, not done in the past 20 years.

We are taking steps in the right direction. It is hardly mistake proof. Cloutier. A mistake that I doubt Lombardi will repeat. However, your view that somehow this team's future will mirror that of its past is just as illogical as those who thing we are all but guaranteed to win the Cup in two years. The next 2 seasons will likely dictate the direction and success of next 5-7 of this team. THAT is the only guarantee.

My point is that I heard the same rhetoric 10+ years ago. I've learned to not believe that ANYONE is going to make a difference - until they actually do at the NHL level.

Until then, it's just more of the same false optimism.

...then Kopitar should have already made you a believer and let's hope fellow Kings fan that Johnson follows suit...

People'S Park.

Did you get a Doctorate? Have you compared it with other well-read posters on the board?

Kopitar hasn't made a difference at the NHL level? He's already done more with his pinky finger in 50 games than Storr, Rosa, and Berg did in their entire careers.

So did Jimmy Carson - then he flamed out at just about the age when he should have been dominant.

Could I get a specific example that we could all see, because I'm not aware of any...
