Kovalev was a hot commodity last season before Penguins sold him for cash. it does make sense for Sather to dealt Kovalev since the Rangers are so far out of the playoff with Lindros career uncertain.

MAybe, but it would be several years too late for some Ranger fans. That's not a knock, but my Ranger fan friends were pretty psyched with the drafting of Lundmark, Brendl, Blackbun, Novak and Tyutin and thought they were finally going to rebuild...and were all for it.

These were also 400 section season-ticket holders that applauded the idea.

A couple of years later and they're still screaming.
