Samsonov consensus

Would you guys like to see him back next year, provided he even wants to come back?

Personally I would.

No. I'd much rather give his ice time to Kostitsyn, who actually DID something with it.

By the way, Samsonov did say that he wants to play here next year.

No way. He has earned the most ruthless response possible. He's a soft peripheral player to begin with, and even if he was playing well and not causing trouble we'd *still* need to free up his salary to improve our team. But given that he's also playing poorly, whining incessantly, clearly doesn't want to be on the team and hence serves as an ongoing distraction and cancer... well...

...what started out as a "let's see if we can trade him for a 7th round pick" or "let's be classy and buy him out, despite the $1.175M cap hit" has rather become a clear instance of a case where it would not be too draconian to McGillisize him. Duck the cap hit entirely, send him to Hamilton, suspend him when he fails to report, and wish him all the best in the RSL next season. Terminate with extreme prejudice, I say.

Yeah I wouldn't mind having him back. If his contract doesn't work as a detriment to further building the team than having one more potential weapon might not hurt.

Hamilton?

I was thinking Cincinnati. Keep him as far away from Kost Jr. and Emelin as possible.

For the record, it's probably a good thing he wasn't dressed yesterday. During the pre-game video package of all the players (with the Gnarls Barkley song) he was booed when his name came on and even during the second intermission when they did the "Get to know your Canadiens" thing on the scoreboard, he was booed so loudly when it was his turn to answer I couldn't even hear what he said

No, and given the fact he'll have only one year remaining to his contract, I think at least one team might be willing to take a risk and acquire him via trade in exchange of I-don't-care-what.

There is a possibillity IMO, especially from a team that would not be able to sign the UFA winger they wanted and couldn't fill the hole they had to fill.

Take Washington for example. Ovechkin recently stated he wants some help and he's hoping some "major" signings or trades this off-season; imagine if they can't convince any impact player to join their team, then why not take a chance on a guy with only one year left in his contract? A lot of teams could think this way, I could be wrong too.

If you have the cap-space to swing such trade, and not much options to deal with, it is worth the risk IMO.

–> Forward Sergei Samsonov says he regrets saying he regretted signing with the Canadiens, and that his timing in doing so was bad. He simply was trying to provide an honest answer to a question. (Thanks to 940News' Barry Morgan for letting us tape his tape to provide this comment, which we missed while talking to other players.)

–> Samsonov again, saying there is no animosity, and that things are just business as usual. Where does he want to play next year? "Here," he replies.

After his repeated outbursts, placed on waivers, his laziness on the ice, Carbos impatience, and his general disrespect for his teammates and habs organisation...

He has played his last game. He is as good as gone at draft day.

Good riddance.

If we can't deal him, there's no harm in giving him a chance at training camp. If he reports in better shape and works hard, I wouldn't be against having him around. If he flounders, put him on waivers or buy him out.

I think Youppi's costume is a bit too big for him, as well.

I think that's Dagenais' job to lose.
