I vaguely recall Bobby Orr's Cup-clinching goal against St. Louis in the 1970 Cup Finals. That was my first memory as a 6-year old. Another early memory was hearing about Gerry Meehan's goal with 4 seconds left on the last day of the 1971-72 regular season that prevented the Flyers from making the playoffs. It was the same day Gil Hodges died (on a golf course I seem to recall) and I heard both stories on a sports broadcast.
Became a fan after I moved back here from Germany just in time for kindergarten....around 64/65?
The downstairs neighbor and landlord was an insurance man and a big Bruins fan who had Leo Boivin as a customer. He used to make a rink in the back yard for his two sons and the rest of us kids in the neighborhood.
Alledgedly Boivin came by the house and got a kick out of watching a bunch of us squirts flopping all over the backyard ice but i don't really remember seeing him there....wouldn't have known him anyway and only found out who he was long after the fact.
