I would be so happy if we drafted Kapanen. He's awesome and exactly what we could use

I am with you there. I posted my list of who I think might be there at 17 and would be pleased with anyone of them and I was jacked last year when they picked Sam who was the player I wanted them to select. But I will be ready to do my reading etc once they make their selection no matter who it is. Fun times ahead.

my knowledge of the WHL is admittedly not up to par hahaha. my bad, i was mistaken, i had them confused. looking at his numbers i see that he's played in 17 games these playoffs; i was way off haha.

nonetheless, the regular season games i've seen him play, he's been pretty impressive.

Just participated in a mock draft and the player that I ended up selecting for the Flyers was Alex Tuch. I was going to select Roland McKeown, but went with the best player available and he was it. This is how the mock turned out:

1. Florida Panthers: Aaron Ekblad
2. Buffalo Sabres: Sam Reinhart
3. Edmonton Oilers: Leon Draisaitl
4. Calgary Flames: Sam Bennett
5. New York Islanders: Nikolaj Ehlers
6. Vancouver Canucks: Jake Virtanen
7. Carolina Hurricanes: Michael Dal Colle
8. Toronto Maple Leafs: William Nylander
9. Winnipeg Jets: Nick Ritchie
10. Anaheim Ducks: Kasperi Kapanen
11. Nashville Predators: Robbie Fabbri
12. Arizona Coyotes: Kevin Fiala
13. Washington Capitals: Haydn Fleury
14. Dallas Stars: Brendan Perlini
15. Detroit Red Wings: Jared McCann
16. Columbus Blue Jackets: Sonny Milano
17. Philadelphia Flyers: Alex Tuch
18. New York Rangers: Nikita Scherbak
19. Minnesota Wild: Ivan Barbashev

The draft is still ongoing, but a 6'4, 215 pound player who can skate like the wind, incredibly soft hands and is a physical player is too much to pass up.

yes very nice pick for us. i was kinda ho hum about this guy, i saw his skating needed work and we do not need to get slower, we need to get faster, and if you say he is skating is strong, i trust yah.

If we get Bostons pick, I would like to package our 2 2nd rounders to move back up in the 1st or maybe early 2nd? Hopefully grab someone who fell like Hagg last year. I like that Lemieux kid late in the 1st/early 2nd.

We're not getting that second, so nothing to worry about.

Would anyone be against eric cornel if he's there in the second when we pick? He's improved a lot over the past year and shows a willingness to learn, he can play wing and centre. He went from a 16 point season in his first ohl season to 66 point season iirc, could be a good third liner of the future.

Although getting a 3rd liner in the second round is good value, I want to get a player with big upside. We have a ton of prospects that appear to have bottom 6, bottom pairing potential. I have not seen him much, but do you think he has 2nd line+ upside.

We need to shoot for more Ghost level risk/reward type prospects in the 3rd round and later. There will be lots of flops but you have to go through those to find them gems.

If it were between Fiala (RW) or McKeown (RD) who would the fans want?

Fiala, obviously. I don't know or even care if McKeown is better.

I watched the WHL Champiomship game tonight, I liked Iverson & De Leo from Portland as possible second/third round options.

Iverson has some size to him & plays physical but he has some good wheels with good speed as well.

Imagine the headlines if we drafted someone with the last name Iverson and had the chance to draft Darnell Nurse. All we would need is a Burrell or a Werth.

I know things can change in the next 7 weeks but right now I would be pretty shocked if Dal Colle slipped to 7.
Ducks are going to get another stud prospect to a already loaded group that they have.
Tuch is headed to Boston College correct? That would force me to root for BC.
kind of conflicted lol

I would love Tuch just for the fact that he's going to BC. That alone minimizes any chance of him busting. Jerry York and that program are just so good at molding quality pro forwards.

He'd most likely be a three year project, though. Probably would take a similar track as Kreider.

Regardless, there are a lot of solid potential picks, and I have confidence in the org to pick a real good forward with a mid 1st this year whether it be Tuch, Milano, Barbashev, Pastrnak...

He's playing with Ritchie on the Petes, so either he could be overshadowed by him and be a steal, or it might be that he only did that much better because he played with Ritchie. Anyways I'm kinda biased to him because he's from my hometown

My Flyers draft plan:

Trade #17 + something? to get to #9

Draft whoever falls out of Nylander,Ehlers,Ritchie,Virtanen.

If none of them fall, draft one of Tuch, Kapanen.

WIN.

I would love to move up to get tuch. I think if we target a guy in the first round that is the guy to get. That would involve us having to move our 2nd round pick this year.

It would cost us too much to move up in a weak draft

Ehlers is a player if we can move up to get I would. He would be the target if we would get close to 10 or so. Moving up 7 spots is a lot though, even with a strong or weak draft. It would require losing 2nd rounder and probably a 4th or even next years 3rd. Something like that. That's a ton to give up, especially if they feel the talent at 10 is almost identical to the talent at 17.

I wonder if Nashville would consider Vinny + 17 for 11? Vinny played well for Lavy and, by all accounts, is a much better fit for his system. Vinny signed here to play for Laviolette, so he certainly could be interested in being a 1/2C for the Preds.

I know most fans think Vinny is worth a bag of pucks, but this is only moving down 6 slots to add a 20-goal scorer with leadership to a team in need of forwards that provide both. Gives Nashville some solid scoring without giving up any of their prime assets.
