I'll agree on him regressing. He did set the bar quite high his rookie season.
I didn't read the previous page, so you may have answered this. If it came down to Myers or Phaneuf, who would you rather have?
Phaneuf's contract scares the hell out of me.
Phaneuf plays more of a game that we need, so him. Myers scares the hell out of me that he will never be good enough offensively to outweigh him being terrible defensively. He'd be like a 6'8" Goligoski.
Yeah, what Zrhutch said. He broke the news that Chiasson wasn't on the team plane after the Peverley incident, and gets the attention of some big media types in Canada. He's followed by Stepneski, Dreger, Aaron Ward, Ralph, etc. Doesn't seem to be too big of a rumor monger. I'd guess he did hear of something pretty significant that was close.
As for Phaneuf. I'd do it. Something like Daley + Oleksiak + McKenzie would kinda mimic the Seguin trade but for a defenseman.
Not interested in giving up that package for Phaneuf.

Neither will be worth to us what they will make in FA. On a personal level, I'm really happy Ott isn't here anymore so I'm not exactly jumping to try to bring him back.
Absolutely no on Ott and Toronto would practically have to give away Dion before I'd be interested.
Bogosian is interesting. Myers would be okay for the right price but the idea of him and Oleksiak together is a no go. Edler might be ideal if we don't have to give up our 1st too.
I still have great interest in Pysyk, Larsson, Despres, Wiercioch, and Clendening amongst the not fully established group.
I wonder if you go whole hog at finding a 2C, which should help with the possession then evaluate the defense to start the season. That way they can make a move mid-season once they've got a better idea if our current guys can sustain or elevate their play.
I think the "safer" or at least far less expensive trade is for a young budding 2C which solves a bunch of problems itself.
Am I crazy for wanting to hold onto Faksa? I still see a lot of potential in him.
There is a lot of potential there, but if you look at it, Dickinson and Shore both project better as second-line centres to me and Eakin is young enough to fill a third spot for a long time. Trading Faksa would be moving from a position of strength to shore up the blue line in my opinion.
