Too much for both that it won't be worth it given the internal budget. If Cap wasn't a concern, I'd rather sign Fiddler, since Roussel is the new Ott.

Bottom 6 hopefully will look like

Roussel - Eakin - Garbutt
Sceviour - Horcoff - Chiasson

Line 2 is the question, from what I've read posted here and what I'd like to see is:

Michalek - Bolland/Grabovski - Nichushkin

If we could trade one year of Gonchar for 2 more years of slightly overpaid Grabner, I'd bump Nuke up to line 1.

And

Line 1 - Benn - Krejci - Lucic

Not trying to get into a debate, but why? He'd be top pair for us.

Myers for Chiasson, Faksa and 2014 1st.

I'd rather not see Otter back in Dallas.

Because he sucks defensively and has regressed offensively.

Roussel-Ott-Garbutt

That line would be fun to watch

I'll agree on him regressing. He did set the bar quite high his rookie season.

I didn't read the previous page, so you may have answered this. If it came down to Myers or Phaneuf, who would you rather have?

Phaneuf's contract scares the hell out of me.

Phaneuf plays more of a game that we need, so him. Myers scares the hell out of me that he will never be good enough offensively to outweigh him being terrible defensively. He'd be like a 6'8" Goligoski.

I easily take Phaneuf over Myers. Myers is huge but plays like a giant marshmallow.

I'll take neither. Both wouldn't be worth what they cost.

You'd hope to get more than 30 points out of your #1D...

That's why I'd target Ristolainen or at least take a serious look at him. He has very high chance of succeeding and being a serious #1D

Of the options reportedly available, Edler would be the #1 target for me. Phaneuf would be a distant second, I suppose. Well, no, Kulikov would be 2nd, pushing Phaneuf to 3rd or so.

I don't see it. We have more defensive depth than forward depth.

As for Phaneuf. I'd do it. Something like Daley + Oleksiak + McKenzie would kinda mimic the Seguin trade but for a defenseman.
Not interested in giving up that package for Phaneuf.

Neither will be worth to us what they will make in FA. On a personal level, I'm really happy Ott isn't here anymore so I'm not exactly jumping to try to bring him back.

Absolutely no on Ott and Toronto would practically have to give away Dion before I'd be interested.

Bogosian is interesting. Myers would be okay for the right price but the idea of him and Oleksiak together is a no go. Edler might be ideal if we don't have to give up our 1st too.

I still have great interest in Pysyk, Larsson, Despres, Wiercioch, and Clendening amongst the not fully established group.

I wonder if you go whole hog at finding a 2C, which should help with the possession then evaluate the defense to start the season. That way they can make a move mid-season once they've got a better idea if our current guys can sustain or elevate their play.

I think the "safer" or at least far less expensive trade is for a young budding 2C which solves a bunch of problems itself.

Until they end the season with more PIM than the rest of the Western Conference combined. No thanks. We know what Ott has to offer, and it's not much.

Honestly the only good part of Ott's game is his wife.

What about targeting Pysyk and Hodgson and get two birds stoned at once? RHD and 2C

Would love Ristolainen, but regarding Myers, 30 points on that Buffalo team is nothing to sneeze at. They sucked so badly on offense this season.

We don't have the assets to land two young players from a rebuilding team.

There is a lot of potential there, but if you look at it, Dickinson and Shore both project better as second-line centres to me and Eakin is young enough to fill a third spot for a long time. Trading Faksa would be moving from a position of strength to shore up the blue line in my opinion.
