No, they have a general parking lot. All you pay for is entrance into the building and parking. It's a ton of fun.

If you are only here for the three days I would suggest staying near D-land and going there Wednesday and on Thursday go to LA earlier in the day and avoid the rush hour(s) traffic.
As far as tickets Ducks fans like 714 tickets and Kings have lots of favs. But stub hub will work
I didn't have chance to get to,the games but wanted to thank you for your reply....now we are looking at going to Billy Joel at the Hollywood Bowl in May...stayed at Venice Beach last time and loved it...wanna always be near the Ocean....

Hey guys. Devils fan coming in peace and whatnot.

I'm going to California to visit some friends for about a week. I found a really nice hotel - and it's actually quite a steal considering it's a four and a half star hotel for only 400 person (with airfare and rental car included)

The thing is, is that the hotel is in West Hollywood. Can anyone tell me about the neighborhood? Is it safe? Scummy? One of those neighborhoods that you have to worry about walking in the night time? Keep in mind I known little about LA and California in general when it comes to neighborhoods so I was hoping someone on here could shed some light.

The specific hotel in question is the Mondrian-A Morgans Hotel if anyone knows where that is.

EDIT: If it helps. Priceline described the location like this:

"Facing one of the most happening stretches of Sunset Boulevard, the Mondrian is a short walk from the House of Blues and other bars and clubs. For big-name concerts, the Hollywood Palladium and the Hollywood Bowl are both about three miles away. The glittering excess of Rodeo Drive is four miles southwest. Burbank's Bob Hope Airport is 10 miles north, while Los Angeles International Airport is 16 miles south."

Should I take it or pass?

That looks sharp. Maybe one of the locals can chime in on the hotel/location but figured I'd respond with at least the basics before others can.

It's Hollywood. It's all pretty scummy big-city feel of course, but you're in a good location. Sunset is relatively safe as long as you stay on the main and adjacent roads, but some of those side streets get way shady the later you are out. Just be a smart traveler and it'll be fine. If you're on Sunset itself especially at normal hours you're totally good.

You're right in the heart of the city, though; you will definitely not be at a loss for things to do. Don't expect it to be relaxing--that place is buuuusy.

I'll let the others that are more knowledgeable fill in the rest of the blanks. I live about an hour outside LA but have spent a lot of time on Sunset for concerts and comedy and food.

Brad Doty says Hollywood is scummy. Lives in the I.E. *

*note: I'm just busting your chops Brad.

Anyways, as I guy who was born, raised and still lives in Hollywood, this description of Hollywood/West Hollywood is fairly accurate. It's gotten a lot safer than it used to be even 10 years ago. The difference in safety from even 15 years ago is astronomical. In fact, growing up I don't really remember walking down Hollywood Blvd. until I was about 8 years old(2000-2001ish) since it was such a sleazy place in the 80s and 90s.

Anyways, just stick to the major roads and you'll have a great time. There's a lot of new and cool stuff in the Hollywood area now and it's only getting better since this part of town is really starting to gentrify itself.

West Hollywood as a lot of really nice neighborhoods and the atmosphere is a little more laid back than in Hollywood proper. I mean, it's still busy, but it's not as overwhelming as it might seem on Hollywood. So my piece of advice is hangout in West Hollywood during the day and then go to Hollywood at night. Another piece of advice is don't be an obvious tourist and start taking pictures of everything. A lot of the people that live here(myself included) hate that kind of stuff.

I'm going to tomorrow's game vs. Montreal. Staying in Arcadia. Can anyone recommend places to hang out in the Pasadena area?

Old Town Pasadena is your best bet, movie theaters, bars, restaurants and a Stone Brewery.

I usually go to Jake's Billiards, for some drinks and to play some Pool, if you like that sort of thing, there is a lot of options in Old Town you can even just walk around and people watch.

Any good arcades near STAPLES Center? I don't want to go back and forth between Downtown Los Angeles and San Gabriel/Pomona Valley.

Specifically, any arcade close to STAPLES Center with these following games:
--DanceDanceRevolution (any arcade mix will do)
--Tatsunoko VS Capcom (Americans don't wanna get told, "Dude, you got your ass kicked by a little girl!" ...to the point Americans purposely avoid this game like the plague)
--Marvel VS Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, not Marvel VS Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (AKA "MAHVEL BAYBEE!")

Not really close - but not very far, either:

Edit:
I've now been there (For a friend's birthday). #1: It's a bar. You have to be 21. #2: They've got dozens of pinballs & arcades - and drink holders attached to every one. I had an absolute blast!! #3: Go early. When we left around 10pm, there was a line around the block waiting to get in.

To anyone who has cravings for Filipino food, please, for the love of God, avoid Manila Bay in Chino Hills during lunch rush! Wait times will make your blood boil.

My group just wasted one hour just for our food to arrive.

I forgot it was Mother's Day, which explaned the slow service.

Update #2: I revisited and service is better when it's not lunch rush/dinner service.

Sunday I learned if you make a food order to be picked up for a major holiday, pay for it at the same time (before pick-up day).

My group did last-minute dine-in, which explains the horribly bad and slow food service.

Oh well, I can opt to go to a Filipino food joint along Azusa Avenue/Amar Road in West Covina; I'll recommend a place in the upcoming future.

Also, if you guys are gonna pass by Pomona, I'm personally recommending Taqueria de Anda, a 24-hour taco joint and even has a 99 cent Taco Tuesdays. Yes, I just did a recommendation for a Mexican restaurant.

I literally live across the street from their Pomona branch.

1690 South Garey Avenue

I know; it can be greasier than Creole.

Also, if anyone is in the mood for Korean food, I personally recommend BCD, across the street from St. Basil, along Wilshire Blvd.

Rooftop bar at the Ace Hotel....it's comically hipster in there, but the view and drinks beat what Perch and The Standard have to offer

I live in the area (and the wyf is korean) so know some eateries around here...
BCD is good but there's lots more hole in the wall korean food that's much better imo. If you want really excellent bbq, go to Soo wan kalbi. Priced a bit more but worth it...

Maybe not the right thread for this, but does anyone have a guess what face value would be for a game in the finals? I'm trying to figure out if it's realistic to plan a trip from Seattle to LA..assuming things go as planned
