Kelowna was more structured defensively with more consistent goaltending. I think it would have been an interesting battle of systems.

Anyhow, I think the OKs are better suited to win the MC this year than in 2012. In 2012 they were more skilled but undersized - they were essentially a poor man's version of Portland. Now Laxdal has had 2 more years to perfect his system and the players are more comfortable in that system, plus he has size throughout the lineup. MC is always such a hard tournament to predict due to its format, but OKs have a shot.

Think Leipsic has better hands than Gallagher, similar wheels, nonstop motor. Fleury is a good comparison...

Theyve been there before. That counts for quite a bit. I think theyve got a better shot than last time around.

Arguably the best team of the last three years was the only one not to go to the Memorial cup.

I have to say I like the team play of this club a bit better. Once they get settled in in games I like the way they play. Scoring could be a problem in Memorial cup action but how many we give up will be the story. Gotta keep the GA down and control games that way.
I see better role players on this squad.

Last year's iteration was probably the best on paper. You had the perfect storm of having both Brossoit and Jarry (although Jarry never played much in the playoffs), having both MSC/DW and Lazar/Samuelsson, having Reinhart and Lowe, etc. Problem was that the chemistry was a little off in the finals against Portland...didn't help that Reinhart was injured either, and that Portland's lineup last year was stronger (Jones > Dumba, probably not close either).

I'm hoping the Drakkar win game 7 tomorrow night.

Then it would be the best defensive teams from the WHL and QMJHL with the two best offensive teams from the OHL.

That'd make for a good tourney.

I hope the format doesn't hurt them this time. In a 7 game series, I wouldn't be surprised if the Oilkings run over any of the teams at the MC. but if they blow the first game....

all the OKs have to do is wear Pollo and they'll kill that team.

I'm just worried that they are emotionally and physically drained while London is well rested and have been preparing for the finals for like a month. I still hate that the home team gets by in one of the hardest championships to win.

Four days rest is enough for these kids. Between school, workouts and hockey, they've been going full-tilt since September. Too much rest can affect their intensity.

Anyone want to craft an Oil Kings Memorial Cup avatar? I think I cursed the Sharks and uh...

London/Edmonton final.

Sorry, not giving Guelph much of a chance...not a lot of star talent on that team and historically Quebec teams perform pretty poorly outside of Quebec....exceptions have been the maritime teams such as Halifax last year or St. Johns a few years back.

My friends in Ontario tell me that Guelph has 3 good scoring lines while London has one superstar line and not much after that. Guelph beat London in 5 games in the second round. I don't think you can simply write off a team based on looking at the roster for 5 minutes.

And the Shawinigan Carac-howdoyasayits in 2012, correct?

Didn't Shawinigan win at home after getting destroyed in the round robin and winning the tiebreaker/semi/finals?

Sorry, still not sold on Guelph.

Far too many examples in recent memory where the host was eliminated in the playoffs by the league champion and the host then trounced the league champion in the Mem Cup.

I'll predict London hammers Guelph in their meeting next week.

I assume some people got this to work, I was not. It seems to me they disabled the promo code starting the third period which is just plain cruel in my books.

It was pretty upsetting.

Kind of a bummer. I've inquired about making the game tape available on the Oil Kings website.

I listened to the game on the radio but I have now found a torrent of the game so now I can watch it. This is going on my terabyte hard drive for sure right next to 2012 game 7.

Guelph is the highest scoring team in the CHL.

They have 7 forwards over a point per game and four 40+ point defensemen.

A team loaded with 19 and 20 year olds. They have 1st round pick on their roster.

London will steamroll them.

London isn't that good this year.

The Storm didn't break a sweat beating them them the first time.

Guelph won't be tired either. They have a 10 day break between games.
