..with the 3rd or 4th pick of the draft..

.. Should DL take cherepanov if he's still there or Alzner?? Should he package his 1st and a 2nd rounder to move up if we don't lock up the 2nd overall pick?? Should DL get Kane if philly pick someone else with the 1st pick???

Cherepanov won't be there at 3 or 4.

Alzner would be nice. But I like Van Riemsdyk.

Don't be so negative. We'll suck enough to get the #2 pick.

There's an irony in there somewhere.

The more that time goes by, the greater the feeling I get that the Kings will eventually slip to #5 or #6, at which point, Alzner will be seen more and more as a sensible pick, no longer a reach.

If Van Riemsdyk is on board, they should grab him. Can't see him dropping out of the top 5, but then again, look what happened with Kopitar (as well as Tukonen who was thought to be a top 5 pick in his draft class). Would be even better if Turris dropped to wherever the Kings pick...

Ok, what the hell are the Kings doing.
I didn't take them sucking for the whole season so I could watch them get a Patrick O'Sullivan.

my guess is that the top five will probably go like this:

kane-philly (i'd be surprised if kane doesn't go #1)
turris-phx (potential upside seems to good for gretz to pass on)
alzner-LA (if we pick third or fourth i think he's gonna be our man)
cherepanov-WAS (would be scary with ovechkin)
jvr-clm?/chi? (next best pick)

At this point, with the semi-reliable goaltending the Kings have been getting, I cannot see them not passing Washington and maybe Edmonton. Columbus and St. Louis are playing good enough to stay ahead of us, so lets say worst case scenario, 5th ovr.

1. PHI - Kane
2. PHX - Turris
3. WSH - Alzner
4. EDM - Van Riemsdyk
5. LAK - Cherepanov

This is realistically what I see happening, however if they can get Alzner they should. But if WSH and EDM is ahead of them, LA will never get Alzner. I was hoping however that LA would end up with the 2nd ovr pick and then traded down to 4-5 region.

I would like to see either Turris or Kane in LA soon, but it's more likely we will land Van Riemsdyk.

What makes you guys think Cherepanov is going to drop? I just don't see it happening.

Why not? Cherepanov isn't a lock for the top five.

Alzner would be a nice pick up as our defense prospects are thin and he is rated anywhere from 2nd to 6th overall lately. He would not be that great of jump.

Agreed here!

I love forwards prospects as much as the next guy, but I think that Alzner will be the best fit for us. We are weak at top D prospects. Yes we have JJ, but after that we have more middle of the road D prospects in Harrold, Petiot, Ryan, Hersley and Fransson. Maybe we the experiment with Boyle on D works out, but I think adding another bonafide top D prospect wouldnt hurt. I would hope we could have a nice D corps like the young group Nashville had/has.

But if Turris is there, that would be very very hard to pass up.

I will be extremely surprised if the top 2 aren't Kane, Cherepanov (not necessarily in that order). My fingers are crossed for us to pick around 4th and take Alzner.

I said on the Flyer board. I really think there are some teams concerned with the transfer agreement. You can only hope whoever does draft him does not have to deal with any headaches/snags getting him to NA.
