His presence has been a complete non-factor. But as I perceive it would be in poor taste to post anything negative about him at this time, I will just stop there.
Uh what?

By "non-factor" I mean his presence isn't a net improvement over the situation that existed before he arrived.

He's a speedy little guy who plays with a lot of heart but despite his 10 pts still has a plus/minus of zero. Even Nash is +1. The Rangers have gotten this far because of the other lines, not his.

But I still feel like we are in an unofficial "mute" period where management and Cally-haters can gloat and the more critical have to shut up for now.

nobody hates (or even remotely dislikes) Cally, some people can more easily move on than others - that's all

Not sure I agree, if we are where we are it has nothing to do with the other line anymore than Richards line or Whichever line Mart plays on. This team has rallied around Marty's situation because he came to play in game 5 against Pittsburg, that is the turning point, also when it came time to distribute the hat at the end of the game 6 I believe Marty gave it to the team but gave the puzzle piece to Talbot I believe and that I am sure had an impact. But the reaL reason the rangers are still playing hockey is the king, our goalie is one of the best and he is playing like it.

Just my opinion

Which is exactly why it's not just "being critical." If you have to pick and choose when to be critical then there's a good chance you're being irrational and negative as opposed to critical. It's pretty standard around here.

Yeah, the guy with 10 points isn't a net improvement over the guys who did absolutely nothing while his team got swept despite getting top minutes.

Yeah but, to be fair Tampa didn't have Bishop and Callahan made the PP look better and he gave it his all out there and his post-game interviews were really sincere, and Tampa fans love him.

Yep.

Are we supposed to feel bad that callahan priced himself out of NY? I certainly dont. Do I still love him? Absolutely. But this team is in a better position with MSL as opposed to Callahan. The offensive difference is too much to say otherwise. Not to mention, he has taken on PK minutes as well.

I just don't see how what happened with Callahan in TB has any bearing on whether MSL is a "difference maker" in NY.

But, since I am about to reschedule my vacation plans around the SCF schedule, I will throw up my hands and admit defeat. I guess Kreider was skating hard for Marty.

agree, nyrhockeyfan...

can't say Callahan being here would have been the same, better or worse; the Rangers did have some success with him playing here. I will add, though, that I can't deny MSL has not had a positive impact on this team and I cannot complain about his presence during this run. He has stepped up his game these playoffs and seems to have emerged as a leading point-getter as well as a leader on this team. Let's hope he and the Rangers can keep it up.

the only thing really not like about him is the fact that his agent is a moron and overvalued callahan ridiculously high..

Which is not really callahan's fault either.

He can rectify the problem by re-signing a reasonable contract with us in the offseason

No thanks. Not even at $3M per. There's no space for him.

Was it the 2012 playoffs when everyone thought Callahan had to be playing hurt because he was just invisible and seemed so off, and then it turns out he wasn't injured at all?

Would Cally get a ring if we hypothetically won the cup?

better - Cally gets his name engraved on the Stanley Cup

"players appearing in 41 regular-season games or one Stanley Cup Final game for the championship team have their names engraved on the Cup."

Cool info, I did not know that. Is Mike Gartner's name on the Stanley Cup?

Don't think so, it has to be a player on the winning team

well, assuming you aren't saying the Rangers are going to lose, I'm just going by what I looked up in the above link

edit: looks like About.com failed on this, from a second link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Le...he_Stanley_Cup

"Currently, a player must have played at least 41 games for the championship team during the regular season (provided the player remains with the team when they win the Cup) or played in at least one game of the Stanley Cup Finals"
