Dont fix it if it aint broken. Things have been going great, our lines have great chemistry, dont need him back right now. However, we could use the Iron Man on D.

Heck, *that's* the part that isn't broken. Since Skrastins went out, Sauer and Vaananen have been machines.

I posted that in one thread. Since Karlis went down, the play of the D went up.

Not to mention Jeff Finger's solid work.

Skrastins has become an asset to sell this summer IMO.

Less Flopping around on the ice and getting out of position as a result.... not just because he is out, Clark, Vanny, and the bunch has stayed on their feet more often as well.

I don't mind Skrastins coming back and Finger being scratched. I think that makes the team better even though Finger has been solid. I don't know where Svatos is going to play. Sakic and Stastny's lines have been so good that I can't see him replacing someone on one of those lines.

Like Hejduk said in interview, Offense has been focusing more to defense, so right now it might look like defense upgraded from injuries to Leopold, Skrastins. It's the offense, they are playing better defensively, because they have to.

Maybe Wolski and Svatos swap shifts on the fourth line..... I would guess Parker gets the bench...

Bruno-Sakic-Svatos/Wolski
McLean-Stastny-Hejduk
Arnason-Richardson-Lappy
Wolski/Svatos-Guite-Raycroft

We really could see the bottom 2 lines shift around alot depending on if we need a goal or are trying to hold a lead.......

Now, I am not a HUGE Parker fan, but its hard to go against a streak and bench guys that have had an impact. Parker has clearly been sticking up for the rest of the club and putting down some nice hard hits that rattle teeth. He has far exceeded almost everyone's expectations and could end up being the spark(odd ain't it) that allowed this team to make the run into the playoffs...

my best guess is top 2 lines will stay the same, Svatos plays with Arnason and Richardson and Lappy moves to 4th line with Rycroft sitting.

I don't believe Parker will sit against Phoenix, since we had trouble with Boynton and some others pulling crap this year.

Skrastins going down has actually helped....I always knew his stats didn't paint the right picture. He'd be good sell bait.

Svatos playing his usual soft way wouldn;t give us trouble if he was kept off the dynamite top 2 lines. He can go with Guite and whoever else

I agree with most of you. Svatos shouldn't upset the chemistry, especially as he has played during this current streak and has shown flashes of his former self. Putting him on the 3rd line would do nothing but make that line potentially much more dangerous. Skrastins, on the other hand, has been iffy all season in a position that is vital. Svatos has a bad game = he doesn't score. Skrastins has a bad game = he gets beat for a goal or two. The D has played as well as they have all season with Karlis out, and I'm a little shy about messing with that right now. And no offense to Skrastins. When he's on his game he is the Avs' best defensive player, but I vote to leave well enough alone.

I'm not terribly surprised. Sauer is far from perfect, but gets way too much criticism compared to the inexplicable free passes given to Skrastins and Clark night in and night out. They aren't the worst defensemen, but wow are they overrated around here.

You've commited HF Avs board blasphemy. Shame on you.

For Skrastins to be out this long, without actually sustaining an injury in the previous game before he was out, leads me to believe this injury is/was much more serious than we all thought. I think Skrastins was playing injured for at least a good part of the year if not all and that is what might have hurt his play. I think the time off will do him well and it will make him a better player for us.

Only took 1 post before the first free pass was issued. Nothing personal.

Svatos is underrated these days. I think he will bounce back next season.
