“@DarrenDreger: Stepan, obviousy a tough young man to hang in there and play most of the game without complaint after suffering a broken jaw.”

Hopefully taken into consideration on today's phone hearing. Nothing like a fourth-line plug taking out a #1 C

MTL got their win and they got their injury, exactly what they needed.

“@KatieStrangESPN: #NYR Asked Vigneault about letting Stepan back into game. Said that docs checked him out, cleared him to play. Wasn't sure if X-rays taken”

He will be able to play with a broken jaw. Just needs a full shield/cage.

Terrible news. An angry Stepan is a hell of a player. Hopefully Brassard is able to play in the next game.

Side note: Bookmarking this for the next time someone calls Stepan "soft". Broken jaw and not only finishes the game, but lays a monster hit on Emelin after getting back on the ice.

Is there any way the NHL can re-evaluate the phone hearing to an in-person with this news?

“@KatieStrangESPN: #NYR When pressed about Stepan's status for Sunday and remainder of series, Vigneault said team would know more after surgery today”

“@KatieStrangESPN: #NYR Stepan did have X-rays last night that came back negative. He was sent for more detailed scans today, which revealed the fracture”

The piece on nhl.com says they reserve the right to make any adjustments needed.

They'll probably keep it a phone hearing and bump it from nothing to a fine LOL

Didn't Kreider come back from a similar injury relatively quick while in college? I hope Stepan, that softy, will do the same.
