the reports im reading, JR has a broken not shattered jaw and will require surgery. the blood was from a laceration inside the mouth. I am not sure how long JR is going to be out for, if i was to guess 2 weeks, but being the warrior that JR is id say 10 days and he plays with the Joe Thorton-type cage.
Keith Primeau was feeling better after the game and unless he has a setback on friday he will play saturday afternoon.

How ironic.

Shortly after the first Comrie trade this year two Philly D-man go down injuries and Clarke deals for other D-men.

Now, after Comrie was dealt to Phoenix two Philly centers go down. Will Clarke get replacements?

Here are three proposals:

CHI: D- Nikita Korovkin, W- Eager
PHI: C- Zhamnov

The Flyers get a center that could immediatly fill the void left by Roenick, while the Hawks get a younger and also better version of former Hawk Probert. Korovkin is D-man that seems to get lost on Philly prospect chart, he may never get a chance to play with the big club. Good up side.

ATL: D- Seidenberg, 2nd '04, 2nd or 3rd in '05
PHI: C- Aubin, W- McEachern

The Flyers get a center that could center the 3rd or 4th and therefore Philly could move Handzus up the center chart. I include ShawnMac, because of another deal. He's an experience player and a good leader, who will replace Gagne.
The Birds get a NHL-experienced puck moving D-man back and 2 high picks.

WSH: D- Vandermeer, W- Simon Gagne
PHI: C- Lang

Philly gets back on of best players in the NHL at the moment. Vandermeer and Gagne are a lot in terms of a return, but you need to give better value in order to get a good value. IMO Both fit the needs of the Capitals.

Despite what people think of Primeau because of his probelms in Detroit and hold out in Carolina, he has slowly shown to be a good captain in Philly and well respected around he league. Being JR is out I almost guarantee he plays Saturday against the Rangers again.
If Prims plays on Saturday... does he kill Holik?

Gagne is a natural centre, it makes no sense trading him away for another one.
Gagne, Recchi and/or Sharp can play centre short term if Primeau is out too.

Hey, like your avatar SteveL.

I'm generally against stop gap trades at the deadline to cover for injury. If Primeau and Roenick are out for the playoffs, then maybe. If they're expected back though, why trade away the farm? The difference between the fourth seed and winning our division is significant, but we will eventually have to face NJ or Ottawa if we want a cup anyway.

We should still have enough depth to ice three solid lines. Zeus, Lapointe, Sharp, and Gagne (or even Recchi) can all play center. We certainly are weaker up front, but we wont suffer total collapse, and should at least have enough talent to do better than .500 until one of our centers returns.

It wasn't a dirty play so I doubt it.

Clarke would never ever do any of those deals.

Hasn't Gagne played center in the past? Can he do it temporarily? Without Primeau and Roenick, they have LaPointe, Sharp and Handzus centering.

Primeau said he has a stiff neck but expects to play on Saturday. Roenick will be out a while.

He played centre in juinors.

I wouldn't be supprised to see Recchi playing at center since Hitch has used him there in the past.

If Keith Primeau's injury is as mild as what is being reported there may be no need for any deal since there is enough depth.

You can't just go out and replace a Jeremy Roenick without gutting your club.

The Blues should be offering both Weight and Demitra around right now.

I think the market value of weight is something like this - weight plus a 2nd round pick for a 3rd round pick. At his price, Doug has negative trade value.

Demitra is pricey but a lot more palatable.
