Tampa. That way a win Wednesday puts us 5 points ahead of the Fish. HUZZAH!

As much as I hate to say it i'm rooting for the Isles, because if we pass the Lightning for sixth will be comfortably in and won't have to deal with the Sabres or Devils.

7 of the remaining 9 games for Tampa are at home.Chances are TB will win enough home games to keep the 6th seed. After the Flyers game on Wedneday, the Rangers have 6 of the remaining 8 games on the road. The Islanders have the toughest schedule of the remaining teams in the playoff race. This week it's at TB,Pitt,at Philly and the Rangers

Montreal could make their move this week with Boston,at Boston and Washington

TO could tumble out of the race with Jersey,at Buffalo and Buffalo

Once again I argue for the contrary point of view. I will root for the Isles. Two reasons.First, finishing in sixth gives a better matchup. I'd rather play Atlanta than Buffalo or the Devs. Second, we play the Isles twice. If we can't beat them, we don't deserve the playoffs. We control our destiny. We need to deal with it. Bring on the Isles!

tampa all the way, the isles are down and they got to stay there.
if tampa beats them and we win against filthy thats a five point lead and considering they got 2 games on us and 2 games against us a little extra space between us can't hurt.

I think as long as its a regulation win, it doesn't really affect NYR's chances greatly. I think TB falling to the pack gives a slightly better chance for NYR to get in though.

i doubt it would harm the isles too much if smyth went down
You must not have been watching the Isles lately. Smyth has been the best player on the ice for the Isles.

Of course, it hasn't helped much

Smyth has been everything that has been advertised IMO.

Tampa all the way...in regulation of course. It's great to be looking up in the standings, but the guys behind us are just too close for comfort.

Tampa.

In fact, if the Islanders were playing a team from Mars, and the fate of mankind hung in the balance I'd say...

Let's Go Mars!

Just can't bring myself to root for 'em.

Hmmm... an Iles win won't kill us either. If the Iles win, Tampa will have to beat Ottawa and NJD in order to hold onto 6th. We could be in sixth tomorow night with a win over the Philly and Tampa losing to Iles. After that if we could repeat Saturday again, and if Tampa loses, we could have 6th by 3 pts.

The Isles have two games in hand on the Rangers right now.

I think the ship on the Island is already sinking, Tampa is the one to catch and put in our rear view mirror! So my vote would be pull for the Fishsticks tonight, but for God sake no 3pt game!

There's still time to run down Tampa, so I'd rather the Rangers be sitting more securely in a playoff spot
Agreed.

Right now we have played the same amount of games as TB and 2 more than NYI. If TB wins we can win our game in hand to keep pace. If NYI wins the 2 games in hand they will have 1 more point than us. In essence, if both NYR and NYI win the rest of their games (and say split the remain 2 vs each other), the Islanders will leapfrog us by 1 point. I'd rather the Islanders lose their games in hand.

Let's go Tampa... Isles two games on us is a scary thing... and the fact that we see them twice more doesn't comfort me for some reason... LETS GO TAMPA...

Tampa. Tampa wins, big deal. They're 3 points up and we just have to handle Philly on Wednesday to close the gap back to 1. I kno wthye've helped us but these 3 point games really piss me off. Great idea from Bettman and company to keep fan interest until Game #82 is complete. This should boost revenues thru the roof.

The only reason we're in the playoff race is because of those BS 3 point games, but I agree the last thing the Rangers want to see is a 3 point game, here.

I'd rather see the Lightning take it, because once Dipietro comes back (if he's not already back) the Islanders might see a bit of a resurgence.

Whoops. My mistake. Even still, the Rangers have played two more games than the Isles.
