Is Dan Girardi our Best D man?

He certainly deserves consideration.

as of right now i really like mara's play...but dan has been our steadiest....you know what he's bringing to the ice, and that's something huge to say for a 22 yearold

i think Girardi is our best d-man when it comes to pure defense. he unfortunately does not seem to have to much of an offensive touch with is becoming more and more needed in the "new" NHL. Our best all around d-man is definitely Rosival. As much as i like Mara he does scare me at times, he is too eager to pinch some times and that can cause major problems.

Girardi seems to be an excellent passer, we just haven't seen much of his shot yet.

Dan and Tyutin have been outstanding this year. Rozy has been best two way d man, and Mara has been better then I expected.

Girardi's play on the puck is fantastic... He always makes excellent decisions when the opposing team has the puck whether it is just making a play on it, or cutting off the passing lane to avoid anything bad happening..

The only thing that holds him back is his shot and lack of big time physical play. He plays a touch more physical and we have a VERY good defenseman. Right now though, he's playing like a 2nd pair guy. easily.

His shot is pretty hefty from what Ive seen. I think he , FOR SURE , is very conscious of being a SOLID d man first. Thats what this team needs and surely asked him to do and he looks solid every night. His passing is pretty strong too, but it is his play in the D zone that impresses me EVERY night

I've seen him make some pretty big hits. Does he do it often? No, but he's no Malik.

Yeah i agree. Occasionally he does lay a hit here and there. Just hopeful for maybe 1 more hit a game. Not asking for anything crazy.

Kid is only 22 so hopefully he keeps improving on everything although he can't do much better defensively.

Roszival are making some huge plays on a regular basis.

Remember that Roszi are left alone to straight things out more then any other D on the team, and he often handles it perfectly.

Though, Girardi are looking damn impressive. Will be interesting to see how much he can develop his offensive game.

His offensive game will come. Before his call up he had 24 points in 45 games in Hartford.

Agree completely on Rozy...

The only thing i want more out of him is on the powerplay and shooting... Other than that, he's been an excellent player this entire season.

Right now, yes he is. And I have a feeling his offensive game is gonna start to come around too.

What I like particularly about Girardi is how calm he is with the puck and the sense he has of where all the players on both teams are. He could use just a tad more speed and maybe he'll be able to pick up another step in the next year or so. As for his offensive game I think we'll see more of that in time. He seems to be concentrating first and foremost on playing defensively right now. For 22 years old he has been a revelation. I think his days in the minor leagues are over.

Steady and reliable. The ups and downs are minimized, just a very even game. Never flustered.

He may never become an offensive threat, but I would like to see how he does with the scoring and hitting after he settles in and gains more confidence. Right now I think he just wants to be responsible but after he learns the NHL game more he will know when to take the chances that hitting and scoring require.

Three years down the road

Staal 22- Sanguinetti 21
Tyuten 26- Sauer 22
Girardi 25- Baranka 23

Average age of just over 23. Ummmmm yeahhhhh I can deal with that!

I think all the d have been playing well, Rosival is of course the number 1 d in all situations. Girardi is very good. He does finish his checks and lands so big hits but it doesn't always show on the stats sheet. His offense is coming when he is out with the scoring line rather than the checking line. Him and Callie had some good chemistry in junior and in Hartford. Girardi has been a pleasant addition.

Rozsival has been far and away the rangers best defenseman...far and away..the guy gets beaten up every game either by a check, puck, or stick and keeps coming back for more...

girardi has been steady and a blessing but to call him our best is defenseman is just not accurate...
