How far into the playoffs?

I know this is early and the chances are still slim that the habs will make the playoffs, BUT. If they do, how far do you guys think this team can go?

I remember early in the season when Ottawa was playing like crap, they kept saying that all the adversity they were facing was gonna make them stronger for the playoffs. Now I know we don't have anywhere near the players they got (not yet anyways) but I think the idea can still apply to this team. After all, we have playoff-proven warriors on our team: Kovalev, Koivu and Markov always bring their A-game into the post-season.

How will the kids play? Now that's going to be interesting.

I think you mis-worded (that a word?) your poll. "How far can the habs go in the post-season?" They 'can' go all the way. Will they though? Unlikely.

If those "kids" continue playing the way they are playing, and the Habs make the playoffs, then I think they are going to be a hard team for any team to beat.

If this team can claw its way into the playoffs and everybody stays healthy there's no reason we can't go far.

The main problem with the team during most of our collapse was a lack of effort. For quite awhile it was very rare for the whole team to show up. In the playoffs that's one thing you don't have to worry about. When this team plays its hardest we can beat any team in the league.

The league is wide-open, at this rate we can probably expect a Hab/Avs final

That would be awesome lol. Imagine Budaj getting hurt in the 1st game of the final and Theo as their goalie. I think the Bell Centre would explode because of the "THEOOOOOOOOO" chants.

How about losing in Round 1 after giving Buffalo a good scare (6 hard fought games) ?

Well, without being *too* optimistic here... I'll say it's not impossible we could knock off the Sabres. However unlikely it might be. But if we're sneaking into one of the bottom seeds, how likely is it that we can take out BOTH the Sabres AND the Devils in successive rounds? Mm, well. Okay, technically anything is possible. But I don't like our chances against the Devils especially, so I'll try to put a cap on my enthusiasm and say we probably can't get past the second round.

I agree. If we matched up with Buffalo there's a possibility of getting past them. We'd need a favourable result of the NJ series with NYR or CAR or TB to get past the 2nd round. If NJ lost their opening-round series we'd play Atlanta after beating Buffalo, which wouldn't be an impossible series to come through.

8th seed ftw!

Ask again when we make the playoffs. Just getting there is unlikely at this point. Go Habs Go though.

If we finished 8th and Carolina finished 7th I think the Canes would knock out the Devils... we'd then end up playing Atlanta in the second (who are going to beat the Lightning) and beat them. Ottawa would take care of the Canes in the second round (after taking out the defenseless Penguins). The potential of us beating Ottawa in the third is quite high.

YES! THE STANLEY CUP IS OURS!

Err... if only we had a secured playoff spot.... this playoff race is actually consuming me by the way... I stare at the standings for hours on end analyzing all the different possibilities..... If the ghosts of Canadienism are still alive they'll take a little pressure off of us Habs fans and make New Jersey beat Tampa, Pittsburgh beat NYI and Washington beat Carolina.

.... I wish I had three TVs for tonight..

If they work hard enough to get in, they can work hard enough to go all the way.
