Heard this on CKAC on Monday, the NHL has in its central registry the name on the player's passport. For Kosty, it's Andrei Kastistsyn on his passport. So it looks like they will continue to call him that in everything related to the NHL brand.
Isn't Kastsitsyn the right way to spell it, and he americanized his name for Kostitsyn, which is the right way to pronounce it?
You're right. It should be spelled Kastsitsyn because that matches the Russian pronunciation. I'm taking a course in Russian and that's the way my teacher sees it. The Cyrillic (Russian) alphabet is different from the Roman alphabet we use.
