This thread is a Rick Nash discussion thread. Meaning his full body of work and when someone says he wants him off the team.... the does include the regular season. Yes teams are supposed to be built for championships and without Nash this isn't even a playoff team let alone a championship contender.

This is exactly the illogical thinking, if you truly thought adding one player was going to put us over the top, no wonder your expectations are unrealistic.

The Blue Jackets might leap us not from that trade but because they have been able to develop their young talent after years of sucking, not one Rick Nash trade
.

AV doesn't want either on the PP yet I watched Richards play the full 2 minutes on the PP last night. So this thinking comes from what exactly.

Note: When Lundqvist stops playing as our goaltender and converts his play into a serviceable 4-6 defenseman while leaving a gaping whole in net, I will agree with your take on the Rick Nash situation.

If you don't understand goal scorers can go through funks like this you dont understand the game. Once again Gabby and Toews without even checking other guys have gone through funks and are some of the best players in the world. It absolutely sucks but it happens.
The two bolded points sum up all the problems.

He's not in a funk, he's playing to what he can do in the playoffs. A player who is not special.

The BlueJackets are better by getting a few key pieces from us, shedding Nash's spotlight, and letting younger players develop.

He's not special, he paid to be and expected to be special as the roster is currently constructed, and the Rangers still lack top-end offensive talent.

Summary: Rick Nash is over-hyped, and this team needs to stop brining in "stars." The rest of our depth is playing their hearts out.

They finally realized he's just not worth the kind of money he was being paid.
I think you make a good point here. What I'm commenting on is the perception held by many that Nash is an elite performer.

He is not.

There were a number of us here who said so before we made the deal to get him....but this has been discussed too much already.

The real point that is important now is that the Nash we are currently seeing does not even closely resemble the player he was a couple of years ago.

Something pretty significant has changed. His play and his ability to create or even hold onto the puck have diminished greatly.

....but I'm rambling again. It's frustrating and I apologize.

Bottom line: I could never justify paying this guy $7.8 million if I had that decision to make. Some will somehow say he's worth it. I just can't understand how they can justify it....but you know they will.

Richards/Nash are the new Drury/Gomez. The problem is that we can only amnesty one of them.

I know it's fun to goof on Nash and his sucking but the guy is better than both Drury and Gomez.

Yeah, no comparison. Drury and Gomez have a **** load more cup rings.

Drury and Gomez weren't good on the Rangers, but when they were playing well on their former teams prior to the Ranger's acquisition of them, they had a much greater impact on their respective teams.

Rick Nash has more hype than an internet start-up IPO.

He sure isn't making a case to make that statement true. We always get these high price goal scores who don't perform when they put the blue uniform on.

Drury and Gomez both played great on their respective previous teams, they come to the Rangers and they can't play the same way. Only Jagr and Gaborik (2/3 seasons) in recent years came to the Rangers and played the game they were hyped up to play.

In 4-5 years we'll have two more names who are the new Richards/Nash.

Need to save some room to sign homegrown guys like Krieder and Zuccarello....and McD. Nearly every free agent this team ever signs is a bust. The building is going to sell out, why continuously go for splashy free agent signings EVERY time?

I think if we address that, then Nash automatically becomes a better scorer.
Oh hey, this sounds like Columbus 2002-2012. At least he up 41 goals for us once.

His career postseason shooting % is below 4%. And outside of the game-winner against Montreal, he just adds "garbage time" goals. 7th goal in a 7-2 blow out? Cool, thanks for the impactful performance. Same crap in Columbus. He can play really well in the regular season - again though, insignificant goals quite often - and shrivels in the postseason (granted, only 4 playoff games for Columbus but look at what he's done on the big stage at the Olympics. He lights up the Worlds that is more or less an exhibition but can't cut it at the Olympics).

Nash is essentially Marion Hossa. A guy who can contribute to a team, but isn't a primary weapon. However, at his salary, that is problematic.

You sure he's not more like Marcel Hossa?

Seriously enough with the Drury Gomez comparisons. With Richards fine, he's been complete ****. Nash has been better so far than any of those 3. Nash is getting the same exact treatment from the fans Gaborik did and it's pretty damn annoying.

Nash leads rangers back to back years in goals scored, gets compared to Gomez lmao that may be the most idiotic comparison on this site and that's saying a lot

Hossa has topped 80 points 4 times (including 100 in Atlanta for a season) and is widely regarded as a top 5 defensive forward in the league. And has won Cups, including three straight SCF appearances from 08-10. If you mean he's just another "guy" in Chicago between Toews, Kane, Sharp, etc. then maybe. But does Nash have those quality guys around him to get his team winning a Cup?

Since when is Hossa a top 20 defensive forward?

At least he puts up good numbers during the regular season. Can't say the same for the other two mentioned.

One of the best two way guys maybe but I can think of quite a few defensive specialists that are better at defense than him

Richter on the radio today says that someone who should be showing up on the scoresheet is playing injured. I'm guessing that it's Nash. Maybe a wrist or shoulder issue? Or it could be Richards, but I'm betting Nash. Could explain a lot.

If it is Nash, I bet it's a leg issue. He just doesn't have the same explosiveness he used to, or balance.
