With this move
Coburn-Timonen
Schenn-Streit
Grossmann-MacDonald

Nobody has moveable contracts besides MacDonald and Streit, and I don't see them moving because MacDonald just signed with us, and Streit is too big of a salary for any team to take. That being said, Streit was arguably our best defensemen last season, so moving him at this point would make me a little nervous.

If we somehow got Grossmann to waive his NTC, that's one thing. Finding a team to take him will be the more difficult task. What this team needs is a young puck moving defensemen, but I feel the likelihood of that happening is very slim. Our defense getting an overhaul will have to wait at least another season, I'm afraid...
I still think our defense looks dramatically different. Only guys I'd say for certain that will be here are Timonen, Streit, and MacDonald. Offseason is barely underway.

His play has declined, quite a bit, but he is still our best defensive leader and still in our top 4. So I don't see the problem, as long as the cap hit isn't toohigh.

Tim Panaccio ‏@tpanotchCSN 12s
told Timonen's cap hit was being discussed at $3 million but that is NOT confirmed. could be more or less.

so it's going to be 4.5 or more then?

So that plus Bellemare and the (hopefully) soon to be announced Brayden Schenn signing is all we can expect this offseason?

It's hard not to like Kimmo and appreciate all he has done in the past but I was hoping Hextall would improve the defense or at least try to get younger and shake things up a little...

Are you aware of an early start to next season that I'm not? Last I checked, the current NHL season hasn't even ended yet, and you've got us hibernating this off-season.

His play has declined a bit, but he's still a good Dman. This is one more year to give the team time to groom Gostisbehere in the AHL. We'll have to see what other moves Hextall is able to make to upgrade the D.

It must be frustrating for the Flyers to know that if they could have beaten the Rangers, the path to the final was a possibility given how well they play vs. Pens and Habs. This is a good team that needs a couple tweaks to be a contender in the East next year: one more upgrade on D, on solid LW, a new cheaper backup.

Awesome, Why would you not want him back? It's not like theres a ton of options out there on D that we could use his money for. Your not going to replace a guy like Timonen for that amount of cash on the open market.

Look at how much Defensemen that are halfway decent are getting now a days.

Hextall isn't Holmgren. He's not going to give this defense a facelift over one offseason. It's going to take longer than that

Maybe it's $3m base salary and $1.5m incentives?

I'm glad Kimmo is back but he needs to be on the second PP unit.

Good to see Kimmo back. There's nothing special about the cap price though, I actually think it's high. His play has been falling off for years now and doesn't even play like a 4.5m dman now, he must be a year younger coming up. But for 1 year I like it.

The only problem I have with this, and it's a massive one for me, is that Kimmo and Jake should both be behind Streit for PP1. That's what he was brought in large part for and he outdoes those two by a long shot from the point. Always support Kimmo but he lost that side of me after crying like a ****in baby when Berube put him onto the second unit. Gotta be honest, for one of my favorite all timers, childish and self entitling moves like that really step a guy down my ladder.

If he's 2nd unit PP, I've got no gripe with the contract.
If he's 1st unit again, I'm shaking my head.

At $3m i'm dancing round the room. At $4.5m i'm just pretty happy.

His cap hit will be 2 million is CC is correct. If he attains the bonuses the Flyers can put them on next years cap if the are over the ceiling this year.

So 4mil is the cap hit? How do incentives work towards calculating cap hit?
