Tweaks = Back to the Finals = Better result

Notice I say Tweaks not Blow up the team.

Truth is we lost in the finals to a great team.

3 OTs = you are a hair away.

We need more finish, but again the chances were there, and so were the posts.

Many times a team needs to grow through defeat in the finals to take the next step.

Lets Go Rangers!

This whole thing has me completely baffled. I'm not even mad...(I'm mad at game 2 and will never get over it)...I'm just...BAFFLED!

I can't remember ever seeing a best of 7 series where the results could just as easily be the complete opposite. Wide open nets, juicy rebounds, posts....it's like a highlight reel of horror on a loop playing over and over in my head.

I have no idea how to fix that.....how do you fix "luck"?

To me, it's a grouping of individual plays that, if done over, yield different results. In fact, if they played the whole series over again starting today, the Rangers could easily win it.

While I'm here....

AV didn't do himself any favors by preaching "stick to our guns" and "keep doing what we do, it's good enough to win" to the team. By doing this, he made it impossible for himself to make adjustments (sitting Richards) and tweaks without looking like a hypocrite.

Brad needs to go. I'd argue Staal does, too. After that I think we need to keep as many of the core players as possible - i.e Boyle, Stralman, D. Moore.

ROR for Staal works. We get grit and size back. He's only 23 too so it adds youth. Replaces Brad.

ROR is the center I want. At least a future 65-70 point player with great defense.

I thought Colorado would have locked him up for years. Going to arbitration pretty much means he's going to be traded. It would appear that one side isn't willing to commit long term to the other. There seems to be some damage done there.

I'd trade for him, even if it meant moving him to the wing. Him and JT are going to be the same mold type of player with similar ceilings. That would be exciting **** moving forward for this team.

Some tweaks will sting more than others, but I think you are on the right track....perhaps

There's going to be more than tweaks this offseason, it can't be helped. Brad Richards will probably be bought out, boom, #2C gone. Half the team is up for contracts, most likely not all of them will get them.

Brassard isn't going anywhere, that was our defacto 2nd line all year.

I have no real issues with our defensive core.

I think you have to take into account that 2nd most important aspect of being weak at the center position is the extra burden it puts on denfensemen. (the first of course is lack of scoring/PP)

It also curtails the D's ability to contribute on O.

ONE top caliber C would make a HUGE difference on this team and it doesn't even matter which one Getzlaf would replace. (oops! did I just namw somwone?)

Team needs a right handed finisher. Cherepanov (RIP)

Vrbata is available. He's soft as a marshmellow but that dude can finish with the best of them; completely wicked shot. We'd have to buy out Richards, sign him and likely trade a winger to fit him on the roster. Would definitely require some creative roster moves

The only right handed finisher in the system is Haggerty. What do people think of him? How far off is he? Does he skate well?

Not sure if serious...

I meant from being ready to contribute on the big club. I assume he'll need some amount of time in Hartford.

Um, 51 points is most certainly 2nd line production. The Brassard line was our 3rd line in the regular season and the playoffs. Also, Brassard didn't surpass Richard's point production in the regular season AND the post-season.

Richards was a #2C by production and lineup position.

I think people forgot that (by his new standards) Richards had a very good season.

His playoffs after Pittsburgh were an absolute abortion, however.

I think what we saw after the Pittsburgh series is pretty much what you're going to get moving forward with Richards. He's just done.

Technically he did, he had the same amount of points in the playoffs in the two less games (wouldn't be surprised if he were 75% as opposed to fully healthy towards the end, either).

A negligible difference in this context.

Tweaks aren't going to push this team any further than what you saw.

This year's team did fantastic with a rare combination of depth and health. While it's always a natural tendency to try to look for ways to push something a little further, a tweaked out Camry isn't going to beat a Bugatti.

With success, comes poaching. Get ready for Prust 2.0, players from successful programs/teams have great value on the open market.

Any tweak for next year's roster should account for the probable loss of Stralman and Boyle (the latter who will get a Boyd Gordon contract from someone).

The whole 2-3 shots on goal a period BS needs to end. making Hank face 40+ shots a game is also stupid.
