Benefit of new shin guards

Hey all I've had the same shin guards for about 9-10 years. They're still perfectly fine but I've been thinking of replacing them for new technology. Can anyone tell me some of the benefits of newer shin guards? Are they lighter? Less bulky? Thanks in advance!

The ones I were using were a little bit older than yours. They were Flaks from the early to mid 90's.
I upgraded last year to newer model, and love them.

They are far slimmer, weigh a lot less, and seem to be more ergonomic. Definitely don't even notice them most of the time due to way less bulk.

Different shins have different fits. For example, newer CCM shins are more contoured, have a lower profile and very light, but not the heaviest in terms of protection. Bauer Nexus shins are much wider and bulkier.
