He should paint his next mask pearl white, so he has a nice base-coat for the new design, for the new team he's playing/sitting on the bench, for next season.

I have a lot of respect for Weekes. He has handled being replaced by a rookie probably better than any goalie in the league would have.

I wouldn't want him on my favourite team as a starter. I don't think he is a good enough goalie. But that doesn't change that he handled the situation he is in with a lot of class.

Kevin has a great personality and could EASILY be a lockerroom cancer.
he has been signed as a starter and a rookie outplayed him. Now hes a backup (rightfully so) and is overpaid. big ****ing deal, its not like we signed him for 15 years, get over it.
the *****ing and complaining about Weekes is far beyond moronic, im starting to believe those guys that yap the loudest about him are just jealous hes getting sort of easy money while you guys sit at home at your computer dreaming about even sitting on the bench in the AHL.

hate all you want i wish him farewell.
I dont hate him @ all, but his tastes in Masks are horrible, Kev has been a team guy, and when he was ina groove he was incredible.

i wasnt really talking about his masks so my post wasnt directed at you.
it was directed to certain posters that take every chance they get to express their personal dislikes for a player they dont even know. and their only arguement is that he put his signature under a contract that was offered to him.

The way some people talk about Weekes on this board you would think that he spent the last year and half tying Hank's skate laces together and throwing banana peels at his feet when he walked through the locker room. Personally, I give the guy a lot of credit for being able to accept a backup role after signing to be the starter.

And yeah, he's not worth the money he's being paid at this point, but what do you want him to do? Give it back? I'm sure you would all be so generous if someone came along who did your job better than you.

That's not true, Weekes started a game against Ottawa in January.

I have no problem with Weekes, yes he's overpaid, but thats really not his fault. I mean what's he supposed to do, ask for less? He knows that Henrik is better than him and I think he's become a positive locker room influence.

You mean the game Weekes was pulled after giving up 4 goals to Ottawa.I erased that game from my memory

The issue is his performance in the games he has played

How about the player showing some professional pride and responsibilty? You think Weekes played well this season? That was my main point. His agent asked for the money and the Rangers gave it to him. Then it's up to Weekes to perform and he didn't

You make it sound like he's made a concious decision to be bad.

As far as professional pride, I think he has done excellent job doing that. Whatever shortcomings he might have on the ice, he more than makes up for them off the ice.

Can't fault the agent for asking for more money. It's on the Rangers to give it to him. Obviously they felt he had earned it.

Well, its not as if any other player has signed big money deals and under performed. I'm not sure I'd sign him as a back up next year, but I feel he has played the role of back-up pretty good.

He was lousy filling in for DP of late. I'd rather bring back Weekes (at a great discount) or look elsewhere.

You've gotta be kidding. So a subpar performance automatically means that he has no professional pride???

Right, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that he has been getting less consistent work over the past two seasons than he has ever had in his career. Everyone knows that goalies need regular work to stay sharp. What, you think that shouldn't apply to Weekes even though it's his first time as a backup in five years? He came here as starter (hence the $$$), and got outplayed. That doesn't mean that he doesn't care. Who are you to say that he has no professional pride?

I like the new mask it's pretty sweet looking....keeping to the original post, Valiquette has a pretty sweet looking mask, I never realized it.

Mikey and Marty's masks will always be my favorite though just because of how simple they are.
