Either way worst offseason ever so far. Moreso once Thornton gets traded.

Say it Ain't so....the end of the Sharks franchise as I knew growing up is coming slowly but surely. Next they're going to tell me Marleau isn't going to be a career Shark

Hopefully Baker gets the promotion up to TV. I have never gotten the sense that Dan loves working with him on the radio side so it should work out OK.

(funny how this was hinted at by LS right after our loss and the majority of posters said "good riddance." I guess they got over the bitter loss and woke up that not everyone in the Sharks organization was responsible.)
Actually, she broke the news first a week or so back, but the tweet that slipped out was deleted before it could be captured.

If we actually trade Marleau and Thornton and lean on couture and Pavelski to get it done then it will be worse than the off season we did nothing except for signing Wallin.

It's like the difference between a spritz of Fabreze and burning the house down.

Drew was absolutely terrible, He was great on Shark Byte but man was he terrible at color. Its like he watched Pierre do games and thought he had to copy him

As a person though I wish him luck in whatever he plans to do next

I'm sure he'll get a good job at TSN or Sportsnet. I think Drew will be ok. Interesting to see where they go.

Come to think of it, I wonder if Hedi had anything to do with it. Not directly - as in Hedi politicked to get Drew fired.

Just that they did a lot more 3 men crews with Hedi by the bench. I thought Hedi sounded a lot more insightful and articulate. Drew sounded like the funny uncle at holiday parties compared to Hedi.

If we trade Patty and Jumbo there is a little point keeping Pavs around. I know DW feels that Pavs is our 'future' but I really dont see how DW sees that.

Yeah, he's made big strides since his awkward first season, but he's not the guy I want to hear 3 hours a game.

Drew also missed quite a few games this year for personal reasons. He could be burned out and has no problem living in Saskatoon and doing his radio show.

No better way to give him some experience than by throwing him into the broadcasting fire.

Then we can pretty much thank the Kings for completely destroying this franchise.

You shouldn't rush prospects in a rebuild. He's done well in sheltered minutes, but I don't think he's ready for a leadership role.

Some guys just learn better once you give them real roles. Look at Brodie, he went from kind of meh to being part of the core. That's what happens when you give leadership roles.

Brutal. People here are really underestimating what drew brought to this franchise. Sure he had his homer moments, but I want that in a broadcast. His in depth and intimate knowledge of the Sharks is unmatched. Embarrassed by some of the cheering going on here. Jesus.

I had heard a rumor that Rusanowsky was leaving. After hearing this news, I thought that that news was actually this.

Its possible that it is related. A "new direction" and all....who has been with the team longer than Dan or Randy?

Disagree. If you listen to Pierre, Johnson, etc between the glass, they do so much more than Hedican. They actually talk about what's going on on the ice, behind the benches, what the refs are saying. Hedican just talks when he's asked, and it's pretty much the same thing as what Drew just said.

He or Baker would be great color guys (prefer Baker), but he's pretty redundant as the 3rd guy.

EDIT: I'm not sure if Hedican would want the gig though. He has a pretty cushy gig staying in the Bay Area with his family. Being a color guy, he'd have to go on the road with the team.

Dan has been there since the beginning, and he's still constantly updating his facebook with Sharks news.

This Sucks! I liked Drew, and together with Randy they were one of the best on TV in my opinion. I'm sure he'll find work no problem... question is who takes his place Baker?

Can't say that I'm all that upset over it. Respect the man for his work over the years but I think it's a good time to go with some fresh blood on the TV side as long as they don't McSorley the viewing audience again. If it's Baker, it's a good move. If it's someone else, it's a wait and see thing.
