Interesting article on why Germany will likely come out looking for the win, and not simply play for a draw: http://deadspin.com/why-germany-wont...raw-1594823103

Yea, I did watch that, they were also playing Japan. Messi has been a dominant force in every game, while playing almost every important minute thus far.

Sorry, Rodriguez is not the best player in this tournament. But he's a close second/third with Neymar.

Apparently, it's all kicked off in the Ghanaian camp, 2 players suspended.

As bad as Portugal have been, allied with Ghana spending the past few weeks more interested in money, than playing in the biggest tournament in the world, moral in the Ghanaian camp is probably that low, expect Portugal to take a few off Ghana, I'm going 4/5-0.

Suarez suspended for 9 international matches and 4 months from ALL football related activities.
I was not expecting this, wow. I really thought FIFA could not do that.

I'm saying 2-0 or 3-1.
Portugal's GD -2. Ghana's -3. US needs a win, a tie, or to lose by no more than 2 goals.

The previous record World Cup ban was the eight-match suspension handed to Italy defender Mauro Tassotti in 1994 (for elbowing). In addition to the nine-match Int'l ban, the four-month soccer-related-activities ban will cost Suarez the first nine matches of his Premier League season. So 18 matches in total.

Why should FIFA not be able to do that? They are the governing body of football after all, so who, if not them, could do it?

With this being the 3rd time, I find the ban fully appropriate. They should have added mandated therapy to it, but I think FIFA really can't do that per their rules.

And Champions' League games. He will miss at least 3 group games.

The last thing all those folks in therapy centers need is some jackass running around biting them.

Since 2010, Luis Suarez has accumulated a total ban of 34 games, yet NEVER received a red card.

Great player-complete loonball

Not sure if it'll work in the States, but the CBC app streams every game for free.

You guys are inviting far too much pressure on your back 4, your holding midfielders need to press 10-15 yards further forward.

USA came more into the first half after a ropey first 15-20 minutes.

If USA ties, do they advance? Portugal is winning 1-0 so far.

So far so good for the US. If we can stay within a couple goals of Germany and Portugal doesn't score more than a couple more in the 2nd half we're on to the knockout round.

Yeah we'd have to concede two and Portugal would have two score two more. I'm feeling good.

If we are tied in points and goal differential what's the next tie-breaker?
