Rollerblading any good for practice?

Hey guys,

I'd love to get your opinions on this.

As a beginner to the sport (started playing 9 months ago), I want to practice and improve as much as possible, however it's not always possible to get on the ice. Would picking up a set of inline skates be any good for practicing my skating? or is the technique different enough that I'd be just as likely to screw myself up?

Thanks for your time!

Definitely, inline skates work fine. You can't practice the hockey stop, but it will help improve your speed and balance for sure.

Training and Fitness

As a training and fitness option to enhance your on ice efforts when ice is not available it will help.

I played roller hockey for a few years before ice and when I had access to ice, I had a whole lot of learning to do. It probably helped but didn't have significant crossover to skating skills on ice.
