Columbus puts veterns on the block

Andrew Cassels, Todd Marchant and Geoff Sanderson are on the block in columbus. this caught my eye cuz of all the hype in the offseason with marchant coming home to buffalo. and then geoff sanderson was here for the cup run, id like to see him back in a sabres uni although he did sputter here and he has had injury probs since. we need some veterns like these guys but who do we give up, especially with the way we are playing as of late...any suggestions/comments?

oh yeah, i got this off espn.com under the shopping fernandez

Sanderson has impressed me alot.

Apparentely the Leafs are interested... and it would take a 2nd rounder to land him.

Do you think Darcy holds a grudge against Marchant for signing with Columbus?

There is no way I'd give up a 2nd for Sanderson.... and unless we move a center do we need another center?

If I dealt for Sanderson,Cassels has to come with him.Seriously,Geoff has played good with Cassels passing the puck to him.

sanderson is a left winger, and yes, if sanderson gets dealt, he needs to be with cassels

I think I'd like to see Marchant here over the other two. Sanderson is unreliable without Cassels. And I doubt there'd be a way for us to get them both. Marchant would add even more speed to us, and he's not bad defensively. I would part with any of the following for him:

Campbell
Tallinder
Kotalik
draft picks

i would part with campbell any day...but campbell and kotalik, those are tough calls. from what i hear, marchant is not only speedy but a very good 2 way forward, prolly could help out the pk

Our PK is fine. Ruff is an excellent coach, and our PK has been great, regardless of whether it's Barnes, Varada, Satan, Brown, Connolly, Pyatt, Hecht or whoever playing the PK. I don't want Marchant, because he makes too much money.

it couldnt hurt tho. give the scorers a rest on penalties, let 2 way forwards kill penalties. who cares about the money? r u paying?

Who cares about the money? I do. There is a good chance that we could have a salary cap with the next CBA, and Marchant making $3M could take up almost 10% of our cap room. Not worth it. Even if there isn't a cap, the $3M you'd be paying Marchant could be used more effectively.

Our two top PKers are Brown and Pyatt. Not exactly scorers.
