I don't understand this pick. We have so many centers, why add any more?

This team needs wingers. Small center that we likely could've maybe even grabbed in the early 3rd. This is a stupid pick by Tallon IMO.

He's also a RW

The newest #FlaPanthers player: right wing @JayceHawryluk, sporting his new @FlaPanthers jersey.

Read a tweet that he himself said he is definitely a right winger, not a center.

After reading up on him, I'm liking him. Sounds like a gritty, chippy guy that I think we lack. Also, to know that Tallon really targeted him should say something about him.

So he's RW that can shoot and is a agitator. Sounds good to me.

I haven't read through all the posts yet on here today, but if it hasn't been said yet, Hawryluk is damn happy to become a member of the Panthers organization. He spent the rest of the day today looking for condos in South Florida. Glad to hear this as it was never the case in the past for draftees. The word has spread that this team is moving in the right direction in the near future long-term.

Jayce Hawryluk ended up in the top 10 on a few of the combine tests like the bench press and everyone's favorite: the pull-ups.

I trust in Tallon, no doubt and these results are definitely encouraging... but I wonder if teams are now placing too much emphasis on these test results than they should. For instance, I wonder how well Gretzky would have done on these physical tests had he gone through them... maybe a bad example as he was obviously gifted in so many other hockey-related ways.... but just wondering.

Ekblad also scored well in both the left and right hand grip. Idk the exact placement.

When you are not picking a amazing talent/sure shot, drafting someone with good testing, imo, shows that the guy is dedicated and really want to get better. Plus, if you are 5'10 and play a hard nose game, it's nice to show that you are strong enough to do it.

For the record, Florida has now become at least the second favorite NHL squad for a couple thousand small-town Manitobans. Jayce is a relentless, talented hockey player whose ceiling is a lot higher than most people give him credit for. Being from the Eastern-most team of a Western league, he does not get the looks of some of the other Draftees. In situations where he has gotten exposure (Ivan Hlinka, U18) he has been asked to be the checking/grinding winger and PK specialist. Aside from genuinely being happy to land in Florida, I think after another year as the offensive leader in the Western Hockey League with the Wheat Kings, this pick will only look better.

No problem. Probably start wandering around the Panther's Forums. Colby Robak also comes from our neck of the woods and with Gallant and new focus, the Panthers feel like a team wanting to improve and make a road game in Sunrise extremely difficult.
