i've been really torn about whether to mention this on the boards or not... but, i think the fans on here being the true hardcore fans that worry the most about stuff like this deserve to know..
Nissan has made a formal proposal to the predators for sponcership of the arena.. negotiations are ongoing.. what i hear, is that nissan has proposed a 5 year deal, while the predators are still trying to hold out for the 10 year deal they have been looking for.. unsure of the dollar amounts and whether they're in the ballpark or not..
to me, one of the big things about any deal like this would be to help solidify the predators commitment to staying here.. you know part of any agreement would ask for a guarantee for the length of the deal..
this could be a mighty big deal for the long range security of the team
I think that would be win-win. Nissan would go a long way toward solidifying its place in the community, and there's fewer big means of self-promotion than putting your name up on one of the focal points of the city--not just from a hockey standpoint, but also the concerts and such that are held there. The benefits for the Preds are obvious.
Nissan would make sense on so many levels. There are people who still puzzled by the move from LA to Nashville. Getting their name up on the stadium would be a great way for additional publicity and cementing their presence in their new city.
Besides, there's the Toyota Center in Houston and the Honda Center in Anaheim. Nissan needs the Nissan Center in Nashville....
