the answer is simple now that lou is down on the bench, the devils won't get any penelties now and the other teams will spend half the game in the box. Every ref in the league and the league itself does whatever Lou wants, so that is his idea, my team has been taking penelties so I better get down there so the refs know that Lou is here and you better not give my team penelties or else you won't be a ref in this league much longer

I think they may be going to the "Lou well" one too many times. This could backfire big-time.

Maybe Brodeur is in Lou's ear?

i hate the Devils i really do.

Two minutes ago we were all discussing the Rangers and Avery and what a great run they are having to end the season and now it gets upstaged by Lou being Lou.

It will be interesting to hear the "real" reason Julian got canned.

Hardly. Imho, Lou is the best GM in the NHL & has the biggest cajones of all GM's. Tell me that Sather would do the same thing if he were uneasy about our chances? No way.

Lou has such an affect on the officiating, this is a great move for the Devils...even though it's ridiculous as ****.

You know, the final four is tonight and it's the start of the baseball season. Nobody cares about either Lou taking over the Devils or Sean Avery. Not in New York, anyway.

WIsh it wasn't the case, but hockey takes a backseat to the other sports in the area.

I think Lou is an attention ***** and as soon as his team starts taking a back seat hes got to do something to stir the pot.

Screw'em.

I'm talking about what WE (the RANGERS fans, NOT Devils Fans) were talking about HERE at HF.

I think that only the list of reasons why Lou did this, the Rangers rank pretty close to the bottom.

Maybe this was his plan all along? He could have considered post-season contention a foregone conclussion and wanted to focus on franchise management until then? Just a theory.

If you thought the Devils got the majority of the calls before, wait until Lou is behind the bench!

as good as LL is, and as respected as he is, he leaves 100% no doubt he works in mysterious ways.

and i'm sure julien will be fine as he either collects the remaining checks from the 2 years left on his contract or he is hired in the offseason. initially i'm doubting he'll stay in the organization.

Who would hire him this offseason? If the Devils go deep in the playoffs or if they lose in the first round, it doesn't look good for CJ.

Lou was just on WFAN with Mike and the Mad Dog (IF YOU CAN BELIEVE THEY WERE TALKING HOCKEY)

Lou was asked if he had to explain this to his players. He said, After playing all season and if they don't understand why the change was made, than we have a bigger problems.

So this is not an Ego thing like many of you think. I would have to suspect the players were not responding and had something to do with this.

I don't see why a quality coach like Julien would stay with an organisation that fired him, but that, too has precedent with the Devils.

It seems to me as if Lou is trying to run the same trick he pulled with Ftorek, but you have to wonder if that's the sort of thing that can work twice. I have no doubt that he is the shrewdest GM in sports, but he already made one huge gaffe relatively recently (Malakhov, even if he managed to get away with it).

You either have to be in shock at the ruthlessness of this move or marvel at the brass ones Lou has to even consider it.

Whether it's an ego thing or not I don't know. I don't think any of us are privy to what's going in Lou's head. That being said however his explaining it to those two clowns on their show doesn't prove anything. The ultimate factor in deciding on this as far as this season goes is how much success NJ has in the playoffs--have to think though that NJ is about last on the list of openings for prospective coaches out there.
