Do you really need to wait for next year ? I think its pretty evident that at least two of those guys will be playing top four minutes on a regular basis in 07/08 .

Lowe needs to sign a big name free agent.
I know that is the catch 22. Does he blow his wad on one huge name and shut up the media and appease the general fan. Or does he go get some solid NHL players to plug 2 or 3 holes but still has to hear how no big stars want to be here. It will be a very interesting Summer.

I'd vote plug some holes. Sam Pollock and Scotty Bowman couldn't turn this boat around in one summer, so focus on young ufa's (Hartnell), sign Torres to a nice contract, maybe pick up a couple of youngsters (including a young NHL goalie so they can offload Roloson at the '08 deadline) and then go shopping one summer from now.

Lowe's in a bad spot right now imo. Humbled during the season, there are other (crazy) teams with more money to spend, and he's going to be hellbent to make a move. Sticky wicket.

Lowe has a lot to do with putting himself in the bad spot

both for '07 and '08 and unfortunately for us, 09 and 10. I don't feel the least bad for Lowe, but I do feel bad for fans with brains

Edmonton's population in 2001 was 782,101, not sure what the Metro area was but I'd say our "small town" is bigger than Nashville!
Actually that number is fairly inaccurate. Edmonton's metro population area just reached 1 million recently, with the population of the city being just around 700,000. Following the population of Edmonton has always been one of my strange hobbies, so I know that in 2001 the population wasn't even at 700,000 let alone 80,000 people more.. Where did you get 782,000 from?
