After only few games experience here and a long season in Europe, nope. May it happen next year

Its all about asset management, play the kid more than ten games and the Hawks are a worse off team in 3 years. We need a very good cheap guy for 3 years(instead of two) especially with Toews, Kane and Saad contracts getting a boost in price after one more year. The kid is barely 170lbs, never played in north america, he is not gonna make or break the Hawks to the cup. After a good summer of working out and gaining some mass, that will help the kid a lot and save him from getting injured as well. It just makes no sense, i dont know why people keeping bringing this up. Versteeg is doing great in my book, he made some really good plays last night.

He has played a ton of hockey and needs some rest to recover too. He need not bulk up much as at 5'10" 170 isn't that small and too much mass will slow him down a bit and that would make him less effective.

Yes, credit where credit is due. Versteeg looked much better last night and he needed that game.... and he also needs to play that way going forward in the PO's. I doubt he can, but I hope I'm wrong.

So the question is this: after being cut from the Finland roster for the WHC, why did they not recall him for the Black Aces..is not soaking up NIL playoff atmosphere not considered beneficial to young prospects finding out "what it takes"? Or did they think it more beneficial to let TT vacation now and get an earlier start on his summer jutting up...err,I mean weight and conditioning program?

He's been traveling like crazy. He needs time to relax and get away from hockey before a big off-season.

He had some stupid plays, but with him I'm more concerned about the intensity and staying away from backbreaking mistakes. If he plays anywhere near as good as he did in game 5 I'll be happy.

Teuvo participated in an annual tennis tournament of Finnish NHL players. Here's a clip where he gets cursed at by Janne Niinimaa for not leaving him the ball. All in good spirit of course Seems that they were playing againt Lehtinen and Selšnne. Don't know if it gets lost in translation but I found Teuvo's nervous appearance and Janne's shouts hilarious And he still needs to hit that gym.

I dont think anyone takes John Jaekel seriously well because he knows nothing, but he has Tuevo not even making the team this season at all.

He probably wont be

RW = Hossa , Kane , Versteeg , Smith
C = Toews , Richards , Shaw , Kruger
LW = Sharp , Saad , Bickell , Morin

Unless something changes there really is no spot for him on roster

doesn't really matter if there's a spot for him

he isn't big enough, I don't want my little boy getting crushed by some titanic Russian.

We still don't even know if that forward group will be there on opening night when cap purging is yet to be done. Also you never know when injuries might strike.

Depends on how he practices/plays in preseason. Shaw doesn't have to play center.

It doesn't take an expert to see TT won't be making it as the forward group stands now. If Versteeg, Sharp or Bickell get traded before the season it's possible though. But I don't see that happening.

I wish that more people would realize that when setting their rosters. Making a roster at max cap gives no room for injuries.

big yup.

would be shocked to see us with anything less than an extra million in cap space with a 23 man roster in place

The problem with this thinking is that given the Hawks current situation, Bowman would have to purposely make the team worse in order to gain cap space. This is something I don't expect him to do.

A 23 man roster allows for 3 injuries that are severe enough to keep the player from playing but not severe enough to go on LTIR. Personally, I feel that is enough. 22-men rosters is taking a little gamble, and 21-men rosters just isn't enough.

The problem is that even at a 23 man roster and a injury occurs , Q and Stan decided to bring up a 24th player and 25th player to replaces the injured players, last year .So then they had 25 guys causing cap hits with 3 guys in the press box and 2 injured. They just don't have the luxury to do this. That plan cost them $60k in cap space this year.

Not sure which sure if this should be in the convention thread or this one, but here's the bit about Richards and Toews talking about helping a young player (TT) in the team.

I don't mind him starting in Rockford at all. That seems like the best option, but if he proves himself I would really like to see him get the opportunity to play for the Hawks on a regular basis.

If he earns it, he will get the spot. Pretty simple

Chric Kuc interviewd TT and reports he is up to 180lbs. He was 169 when he played in Rockford and 176 in rookie camp last month. He has been working out 5 days a week with Paul Goodman (as have Johns, Clendening and Hartman).

He's showing initiative - very good!

Workouts with Paul Goodman, dinners with John Goodman, let's shoot for 200 before puck drop!
