I don't think the Pens have anything that could land them Sharp. If the Hawks trade him - it's probably going to be for cap-space. Which means trading him for picks. The Pens pick will be way too low in the draft to consider for Sharp.

Hard to read too much into 5 days old rumors this time of year when things change so quickly.

Sharp doesn't want to go anywhere else and he has a NTC/NMC (anyone know the exact terms?), so all these trade rumors are pretty silly if he's the one who has ultimate say in the matter.

There's still a list, and most likely the Pens would qualify. That said, I'd get that list, run the odds on a team that may miss the playoffs then ask for a 1st.

The Pens don't have anything that can land them Sharp? Ok. I'll take Olli Maatta, Beau Bennett, and a 1st. They have plenty of defensive prospects they can give up.

Doubt the Pens trade Maatta when he is already the best defender on blueline

And Pen fans said they don't have cap to take on Steeger so Sharp wouldn't make any sense

I can't imagine the Pens would send Olli anywhere at this juncture though when basically all they have is him and Letang on the back end right now since they let everyone else go to free agency.

No reason for Beau, overrated and injury prone--if you wanna cap dump him so be it but shouldn't shave off what we get back. If I was Bowman I might do Maatta + a first and a second. Rather just keep Sharpie though.

Personally I think this rumor has Eklund credibility at best.

Bennett, Maatta & 1st would be something I'd take

Well I would love to see Olli Maatta, but they won't give up Olli that easy, and plus the Pens don't have defenseman at all, because they lose key players due to free agency, I think the Pens should get Sharpie and the Pens should get a defensemen as well, i would love to see Johnny Oduya in Pittsburgh!

My first thought: Someone has cooked this rumour up after Neal left the Pens, as he was their sniper (at least season before last he was) and they need a replacement for the 30+ goals that Neal would likely have provided.

It does make some sense however ... and Sharp could do much worse. I rather doubt it will, but if it ever happened, I think it would be a good fit for him.

Sorry, but this is just rumormongering at this point. The blog linked to doesn't even mention who the Pens would theoretically be willing to give up for Sharp and the writer obviously comes off as a Pens homer who wants to see Pittsburgh get more stacked.

Not really worthy of conversation based on the information (or lack thereof) presented. Closed.
