guess that means nichol is ready enough...that and abid probably can't clear waivers.

We can, there is no limit on roster size right now, but you only have a limited number of recalls you can make...except in emergency situations.

Regardless, Peverley has shown that he is not ready for full-time NHL duty and it is best for his development at this point in time to be playing top line minutes in Milwaukee as they battle for the playoffs than sit in the press box here in Nashville as we battle deep into the playoffs.

well given the choice between hartnell clearing and abid clearing......

i was thinking abid had played enough with us and other teams that he couldn't clear, so we hold onto him as long as we can. if we get eleminated before erat comes back then we don't have to send him back this year. thus he doesn't have to clear waivers and can simply start in milwaukee next season.

The rule governing this was addressed in the practice update article from Monday. After the trading deadline there is no limit on the number of players you can have on your active roster at the NHL level. Players however cannot be recalled and sent down freely. Instead, teams are limited to a certain number of moves between the NHL and the AHL (I forget the actual number) and can only avoid using one of their allotted roster transactions in emergency situations (long-term injuries, etc).

Abid and Peverley were both recalled under the emergency situation clause and with Nichol's return on Tuesday...NHL rules dictate that either Peverley or Abid must be sent back to Milwaukee or be recalled for the remainder of the season. Abid can still remain on the Nashville roster for the time being because of Hartnell's absence, but once Hartnell returns...either Abid will be sent back or he will be recalled for the remainder of the season.

Peverley was not ready to assume a full-time role in Nashville and was therefore sent back to continue his development, regain some confidence, and leave open one of the non-emergency transactions for future use by the Predators if needed.

I was speaking more along the lines of Abid staying up. Peverley clearly isn't ready for the NHL, but I doubt we send Abid down at this point. He has been a decent call up...

He was good that one Edmonton game, I think he's been pretty awful as anything more than a fourth liner in every other game.

this is wierd, I didnt anticipate feeling this happy about Nichol returning.

we just need a shake up, and this will definetly help us out in the faceoff department.

Except Trotz said in the Tennessean Nichol probably won't take a faceoff until the playoffs.

Just wanted to clafify with some Preds fans, but Sully and Erat are both done for the duration of the regular season correct?

Yeah, like I said, he is a good insurance policy on your farm, but he has not played long on any NHL team he has been on...

Sully out indefinitely...not likely to start playoffs

http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...RTS02/70405056

Well, boy that's a real shocker

I count on the return of Sullivan as highly unlikely and something that should not be figured into our postseason plans. Maybe he will return to the lineup in a game 7 much like Willis Reed did for the Knicks way back when in the NBA or like Kirk Gibson did for the Dodgers many moons ago.

Teams can win without a star player. Just look at Carolina last season...they lost Erik Cole late in the regular season to a broken neck and were without him for a majority of the playoffs only to get him back in a small role for the Finals.

It can be done, but it all starts with the realization that we need to figure out how to win without Sully in the lineup.

I love Sullivan. He is the heart of this team when he plays. Unfortunately, he has been a complete non-factor all three playoff runs, which is extremely disappointing.
