Same here. I thought the last loss to Philly & Shanny's injury were the coffin and nail for the season. I haven't been this proud of the Rangers in a long, LONG time.
It wasn't the Philly game that bothered me. It was getting only 1 point in the home-and-home with the Debbies. The Rangers played hard, but the breaks all went the Debbies way. I just took it as a sign that the playoffs weren't meant to be. And, when they crapped the bed against Columbus, I was convinced the season was over.
What an amazing performance last night. The Garden was totally rocking. Kudos to the Montreal fans in my section that stayed and watched the Rangers give thier sweaters to the fans at the end of the game. I thought that was pretty cool!
The Irish Car Bombs at Cafe 31 are making this a very tough Friday at work though!
After so many years of frustration, including the ending of last regular season, I have not been this proud of the team since they lost out to the Flyers in 97. Can't wait for the game on Saturday, and if anyone saw the postgame interview with Renney, that seems to be the only thing he is thinking, and wants his team thinking about as well.
I have little to no voice from last night, but I tell you its was definitly worth it!!!!! The Garden was rocking!!! I'm so happy my faith in this team wasnt misplaced and they pulled it together. It was a little later than I planned but, i'll take late than never. LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it was right around the middle of February when we blew a 2-0 lead going into the third period against Columbus in regulation, with two of those goals coming shorthanded, that I officially gave up on the season and starting just watching the kids in juniors as much as possible. At that point we were 6 point out of the last playoff spot and sitting 12th in the conference. I knew Hank was playing great, but he still managed to let in the bad goal every once in a while that would give the other team momentum. Never imagined this turn around was possible!! The whole team has bought into it, and going into the playoffs hot like this is the greatest thing I could have hoped for. I don't give a **** who our first round matchup is, we have a good enough team to beat anybody!
Here's to the Rangers!!!
Here's to the Wolfpack!!!
Here's to Sudbury!!!
I've got three teams to root hard for in hockey playoffs right now and could not be happier, now here's to hoping I can get tickets to games 3 and/or 4 in MSG!! Can't drive up to the box office, so I am just going to have to hope I can get them through ticketmaster (I do actually work, no longer in college)!
What is even more better about this is that Elisha Cuthbert was at the game and she signed a 'Girl Next Door' (Because she is in it) movie boxart. It's so good!
WE WANT THE CUP!
You are a lucky man. Speaking of that, outside of winning the Cup with the Wings, this has to be the most fun Sean Avery has had playing in the NHL. The fans here love him, he is playing his best hockey of his career, on a team that is redhot, and got a playoff spot that was pretty unexpected, plus he is doing it for an Original Six team in New York!!! Oh yeah, and his girlfriend is Elisha Cuthbert, wish would make any man happy.
Congrats to the Rangers. I hope the intensity continues as they will need to bring their a game every night and Lundqvist will have to keep his hot play going.
I am really worried about taking Avery in the playoffs and as well as he has been playing he is still an idiot at times and he will definiatly have to keep in line or we will be killing a lot of penalties. Hopefully Shanny and some of the Vets can contiue to keep him focused.
I still don't like half the defensive core we are taking in but with Tyutin back I feel a little better. Lets hope they can continue their solid play of late. I would also like to send out a huge cheer for Girardi as he has played better then I thought he ever could and Pock better not sit as he has possible been the hottest dman we have the last dozen games.
