As someone with strong Cleveland ties, I'm so happy right now and I don't even like basketball that much. Call it a PR stunt, LeBron cementing his brand or legacy, or he genuinely loves his home and wants to see it succeed (I think it's a combo of all 3), but the fact is that the Cavs are relevant again.

Cleveland deserves a champion.

haha, I'm messing around. The Cavs are the only Cleveland team I like. I'm happy for him and the franchise.

They've been through enough **** over the years. I still feel so bad hearing my dad tell the story of him pacing in a hotel room watching Jose Mesa blow the World Series

According to the Cavaliers' team store, LeBron's jersey number will be 00.

http://www.cavaliersteamshop.com/sea...6-29fa6f939099

On second thought, he'll wear 32, as per Right Down Euclid.

Does anybody else here find it absurd that LeBron's decision took up more space than the Dubinsky signing on the front page of yesterday's sports page in the Columbus Dispatch?

It's huge news. Like, led off the NBC nightly news huge. No objections.

MSNBC, which rarely covers sports, cut out of interviewing a Senator when the news broke.

I guess living in Cleveland (the middle of the hoopla) distorted my perspective of just how big this story was.

Also, I tend not to view anything happening in Cleveland as national news. Call it an inferiority complex on steroids, I guess.

Crap like this makes me glad baseball is rapidly "idioting" itself out of the national sports picture. It's a competitive game, not some sort of Victorian-era gentlemen club.

I'm sure many saw this, but it caught my attention this morning. In 2004, when Rory McIlroy was 15, his dad and some friends got together @$650 and placed a bet at 500-1 that Rory would win the British Open before he was 26. Yesterday, at 25, the kid won it and his dad and friends will collect @$350,000!

For the many OU fans, Lori Schmidt posted this ad for football tickets:

That is fabulous!

So uh...why'd the Indians give away Masterson? I know he's been lousy but it seems strange to punt on him already.

He's a free agent at the end of the season and they weren't going to give him what he wants (he turned down their last offer). His performance, this year, didn't help his cause any, either!

Exactly Pete. Masty was on the way out the door after this season after his contract debacle, and then his performance this year. Hopefully Cabrera is next to be shipped off.

I hate to admit it but the Tribe should definitely be sellers this year. If only we could unload Swisher...

Send him to the Dodgers; after all, his wife works in Hollywood.

By the way, Cavaliers versus Miami Heat on Christmas Day. Sigh; this makes me miss the meme where "LeBron James is Hulk Hogan of the NBA." It's probably for the best that meme is dead.

Already rumblings that $115m is largely garbage and based on him hitting a bunch of individual/team incentives.

Won't know until full details are released.
