Go back a few weeks and look at all the folks steadfastly refusing to believe he would wave. I always said he would. He's not well liked here and having the god-man, Trevor-freaking-Linden, telling you it's time to move on is extra persuasive.

Final year. Plus Bos is in cap hell with cap penalties from last season. He could be had in a cap relief trade for them.

Its just about position IMO. Mac is a center while Winchester is a winger, we already have a glut of wingers. Colorado is getting a great 4th line player.

From typical Panther basher Scott Burnside on Panthers UFAs...

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/11...ock-stock-down

Florida Panthers
It's fashionable to pooh-pooh the Florida Panthers because, well, they're easy to pooh-pooh. But we'll go back to the offseason leading into the 2011-12 season, when GM Dale Tallon added a plethora of free agents, prompting the usual criticism and skepticism. We weren't among the critics. We picked the Cats to make the playoffs and they did, in fact winning the Southeast Division. We're not picking them to win the Atlantic, but we just think Jussi Jokinen, Willie Mitchell, Dave Bolland, Derek MacKenzie, Shawn Thornton and netminder Al Montoya, all signed Tuesday, have the chance to perform a similar minor miracle regardless of whether the deals were sound or not. The skaters are all character guys and, with top youngsters like Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Huberdeau, Nick Bjugstad et al and assuming Roberto Luongo maintains good health, this is a team that could surprise.

Hayes files for arbitration. Hopefully both sides can settle before that.

I think there was 20 NHL players in total who filed for arbitration.

How would you guys feel about trading for Mike Green? Seems to be the odd man out in WAS.

Not saying I am for it, just want to hear your opinions.

Not what we need IMO. This is not the guy you want to be putting next to Ekblad or Guddy.

I think the Capitals would be asking for a high trade value for him. Not worth it.

Good write up. Thanks.

Panthers GM Tallon is trying to trade some or organizations' "assets" for a goal scorer. #flapanthers

The only two names I can think of are Evander Kane and Patrick Sharp. I'd be ecstatic with either one.

We're going about this all wrong... we need a list of players whose last name starts with "B". That's obviously Tallon's gameplan.

Brouwer.

Which actually is a realistic trade option...

Just messing around on capgeek. In 2018, the only players have contracts are Bolland and Luongo.

I don't know why that is so funny to me.

They never are there until they ARE there. Ray Whitney had never shown much in Edmonton before the Panthers got him off waivers and put him in the top-6. Dvorak didn't do a whole lot on the scoreboard until we traded him to the Rangers, then he had a great season.

My point is, we can doubt all we like, but what Huberdeau and Barkov will do will never be determined in the offseason, so it's pretty silly to shoot them down. There's an expectation they will bloom into reliable scorers, but that will never happen if they're never put in position to realize that potential.

I'd love an established sniper in the mix, but I wouldn't want young players already demonstrating a lot of promise to have to take a back seat and set back their development for a one-season rental or prima-donna star.

Much more concerned about the lack of a clear-cut 6th man on defense, but have this nagging feeling someone's being forgotten there. Of course, the post I'm referring to is about 6 pages back now

The rumor is Sharp - Chicago has to move him to dump salary and Tallon is quite obviously interested.

I'd be quite happy to have the 4th most successful former Vermont Catamount on the Panthers' roster

considering the bomb that just got dropped on the Heat, now is the perfect time for the Panthers to make a big move and steal the show this october with a strong team
