I doubt that. Only difference will be in graphics. Certainly not worth it to pay 460 bucks to play one game.

I'll most likely play on PS3. Just can't justify buying a new console for one game when there aren't enough significant upgrades.

NHL 15 as it is on X1 and PS4 (new graphics, new physics, the new crowds and all that) is impossible to have on the 360 and PS3. The NHL 15 version on the old consoles will just be an updated NHL 14 with whatever little tweaks they're able to fit into the old system - which won't be much. You'll probably get the new arena models, new commentating, and some lame version of puck physics, although I wouldn't count on that. It's just going to be an updated money grab so they don't "lose" customers like what you mentioned, the people who, rightfully so, don't want to spend $500 on a new console to be able to play 1 game.

The old consoles just straight up aren't powerful enough to run the game as you're seeing in the new NHL 15 videos. What they show is strictly for new gen.

I had a xbox one but did not like the connectivity of the voice commands in my busy house they simply did not work. I traded it in for a PS4 and I do like the controller better for the Ps4 the xbox one IMO was to bulky.

Menu speeds, loading times will be most likely improved on next-gen consoles as well.

NHL's differences between new and old gen will be same as other cross-gen games, most likely.

Personally, I'll buy it for PS4.

No where, don't have the money for a new console. Not paying $70 for a watered down 360 version either.

Other cross-gen games also had a much bigger budget to make big changes that simply can't be seen in the pre-gen version. Personally, as long as most of the new features are one there like new announcers, authentic arenas, and other gameplay improvements to be announced/elaborated, I'll just stick with the pre-gen version rather than buy a new console to play one game. If the biggest difference is that the jersey doesn't flow and a player doesn't get a shadow on his face when he looks down, I won't mind.

As a person who played Battlefield 4 on PS3 before PS4 was released in Europe - There is a notable difference. Not just graphics, but performance wise as well - and it wasn't a small budget game.

People complain about NHL being "yearly roster update" but there is only so much the old hardware can do. With next-gen versions, they have no excuses this time.
My guess is that puck physics and collision engine will also be watered down I'm afraid. Here's hoping that it won't be.

I'm sure the previous gen version will be worth a purchase, I'm sure it'll top NHL 14 and NHL 15 is a must buy if you play online. If NHL is the only game you play, or you play just occasionally - I wouldn't buy a new console for a single game either, so I understand your point completely.

Well, if NHL is the 'only game you play', I would certainly pick up a PS4.

Everybody I talk to that only plays sports game or just one sports game, ultimately winds up caving on a number of other big releases.

No amount of optimization on the older consoles will be able to salvage them. The hardware was already dated when released in 2005/2006, fast forward 9 years later... The older systems can't handle the newer engines.

Also, FIFA and NHL have made a number of improvements over almost every installment that are certainly not roster updates.

Want to see a roster update dressed up in a higher res package? Look at Madden.

Probably the X1 because of Forza.

Last GT was boring to me.

PS4. I've already preordered the Destiny bundle, and it comes out on the same day as NHL 15, so why not knock out 2 birds with one stone

It will be XBone as long as EASHL is there.

I can't justify buying it on 360 after buying a PS4...

I really really don't want to support EA after this garbage... But I still want it lol.

It's really not worth buying it for PS3 or X360 when it's basically just a roster update with new commentators.

I've updated the OP to state that the next-gen versions of NHL 15 won't have EASHL

I can't believe EA NHL would remove one of the most popular game modes since 2009 when it was introduced.

I'll probably just stick with NHL 14 since I don't find the need for HUT or getting the next-gen version until they re-introduce EASHL.
